BOSTON: TIERNEY SUTTON AT SCULLERS WITH NEW CD AFTER BLUE

A three-time Grammy nominee for "Best Jazz Vocal Album", Tierney Sutton will perform at SCULLERS JAZZ CLUB(400 Soldiers Field Road, Allston, MA - 617-562-4111 - ) on Thursday, October 3rd with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Sutton is often described as "a singer's singer", but just as often, she is described as a "musician's singer", who uses her voice like an instrument. She has fronted the Tierney Sutton Band, which includes stellar partners, pianist Christian Jacob, drummer Ray Brinker and bassists Kevin Axt and Trey Henry, for over 20 years. TORONTO: OLIVER JONES TRIO AT THE JAZZ BISTRO

THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) presents one of Canada's brightest lights in jazz, pianist Oliver Jones on Thursday through Saturday, October 3rd through 5th at 9:00 pm. Montreal born, Jones made his debut as a pianist at age five at Union United Church, and by the time he had his first cabaret appearance, he was nine. In his 70 year career, he has released an impressive 22 albums and continues to perform internationally. He has been recognized with numerous awards including 3 Juno Awards, the Order of Quebec, and he was appointed an officer of the Order of Canada. He is also the proud recipient of the Martin Luther King Jr. award. Last February Canada Post issued a stamp honouring Oliver to commemorate Black History Month. In a career filled with superlative achievements, Oliver Jones remains one of Canada's finest musicians. Oliver Jones' latest recording, 'Just for my Lady came out in April. The album features eric Lagace, bass and Jim Doxas, drums - the musicians who will accompany Oliver at Jazz Bistro. There is a $25 cover.
