CABARET TONIGHT IN BOSTON: musAner WITH SPECIAL GUEST ALEKSAN HARUTYUNYAN
The band musAner, with special guest Aleksan Harutyunyan, will perform atTHE REGATTABAR at the Charles Hotel (1 Bennett Street, Cambridge, MA - 617-395-7757 - ) on Tuesday, October 8th at 7:30 pm. musAner is a 10-person ensemble blending jazz orchestration and Armenian folk music. The group features Ara Sarkissian, piano and arrangements with Aleksan Harutyunyan, voice; Todd Brunel, clarinet; Ken Field, alto; Mario Cerra, tenor; Blake Newman, bass; Gary Fieldman, drums; Fabio Pirozzolo, percussion; Roberto Cassan, accordion; Martin Haroutunian, folk instruments. Founded in 2007 by composer and pianist Ara Sarkissian, the group musAner released its first recording in 2009. Featuring a wide array of musicians from the Boston music scene, the group has presented widely in both jazz circles and general audiences. In addition to the acclaim it has received from audiences and critics in the Boston area, the group has performed to sold-out audiences Italy, Switzerland and New York City. Since then, musAner's cross-genre repertoire has been heard regularly at some of the most prestigious venues in Boston, along with features on radio programs in the US, Italy, France, Lebanon, and Armenia. There is a $20 cover.
