SAN FRANCISCO: CARLY OZARD "MIDLER ON THE ROOF" AT FEINSTEIN'S

Award winning cabaret singer and Bay Area native, Carly Ozard, makes her FEINSTEIN'S AT THE NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 866-663-1063) debut on Sunday, November 9th at 7:00 pm. She will present her show 'Midler On the Roof - One Singer's Journey of Divine Intervention'. Carly recalls her childhood and adolescent years as a young performer and finding self acceptance through Bette Midler's music including "From a Distance," "Friends," "Married Men" and more. Since launching her career in 2005, Ozard has been connecting with her audiences through humor and astonishing them her powerful vocals. Her one woman shows have included "Shift Happens," "Bewitched, Bothered and Bipolar" and "Somebody to Love: My Musical Tribute to Freddie Mercury" which she performed in New York City in 2011. She has performed at Birdland, Don't Tell Mama, 54 Below, The Cranky Cabaret, The Iridium, The Duplex, the Laurie Beechman Theatre and more and has shared the stage with Ann Hampton Calloway, Bruce Vilanch, Debby Boone, Tim Hockenberry and Sharon McNight. 'Midler on the Roof' is directed by Broadway performer and comedian Kristine Zbornik and featuring musical direction by Steven Ray Watkins and back up vocals by The Coker Sisters.

Acclaimed South African two-time Grammy nominated songwriter, guitarist, and producer, Jonathan Butler will perform at BLUES ALLEY(1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) on Thursday through Sunday, November 6th through 9th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Butler has had a 25 year recording career in pop, R&B, smooth jazz and adult formats. Butler, a soulfully inspired man, sees music as his salvation. If we must label and define this individually gifted artist and his music, "soul jazz" seems to be the most fitting and is a driving force behind his live performances. There is a $50 cover.

BETHESDA, MD: THE BUSTER WILLIAMS QUARTET "SOMETHING MORE"

The Buster Williams Quartet "Something More" (Buster Williams - Bass; Lenny White - Drums; Patrice Rushen - Piano; Steve Wilson - Saxophone) will perform at BETHESDA BLUES & JAZZ SUPPER CLUB (7719 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, MD - 240-330-4500) on Sunday, November 8th at 7:30 pm. Since the inception of "Something More'' in 1990, the group has had numerous tours of Europe including the first International Jazz Festival in Moscow; tour of Japan and Australia; countless engagements throughout the U.S. and a CD soon to be released. TORONTO: ALEX SAMARAS AND JOHN ALCORN SING!

Two of Toronto's top male vocalists will be singing together for the first time at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Sunday, November 9th at 7:00 pm. This evening will feature Alex Samaras and John Alcorn singing duets as well as their own favourite jazz tunes. They will be backed by David Restivo on piano and Steve Wallace on bass. Alex Samaras is quickly becoming one of Canada's leading vocalists in the jazz and new music scene. Alex studied vocal performance in the jazz program at the University of Toronto and at the Banff Center's Creative Music Program. He also spent time working in New York City with contemporary arts icon Meredith Monk and her vocal ensemble performing in concert versions of Monks work and in multi-disciplinary performances. Award-winning vocalist John Alcorn has been a musical mainstay on the Toronto scene since the mid-1990s, working in a wide spectrum of musical formats that run the range from small group settings to larger string and big band ensembles. Known for his heartfelt approach to lyrics and a sublime sense of swing, Alcorn has delivered his classy distinctive renditions of jazz standards and Great American Songbook classics from hundreds of the most prestigious bandstands and concert stages across Canada. NYC: THE BIRDLAND JAZZ PARTY FEATURING VOCALIST GABRIELLE STRAVELLI

The Birdland Jazz Party will feature award-winning vocalist Gabrielle Stravelli on Sunday, November 2nd at 6:00 pm at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080). Her special guest is the award winning singer/ songwriter/ pianist Billy Styritch. Gabrielle Stravelli has garnered critical acclaim and a loyal following through her unique take on material from the new American songbook, as well as classic standards by artists as varied as Pink Floyd and Duke Ellington, Dolly Parton and Johnny Mercer. A trained actor, Gabrielle has a soulful sensitivity for the story in the lyric. Gabrielle began singing as a soloist with orchestras at the age of 15 and has since performed on stages from Amsterdam to New York including Carnegie Hall, the Hammerstein Ballroom, the Iridium Jazz Club, BB King Blues Club, Birdland Jazz Club, The Garage, Comix, the Fulton Theatre, and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center where she opened for Esperanza Spalding and Cassandra Wilson. She has appeared as a soloist with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra and the Cincinnati Pops, sang the role of Anita in West Side Story with the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra and performed the role of Jeannie in the European tour of HAIR. NYC: ARTURO O'FARRILL AFRO LATIN JAZZ ORCHESTRA SUNDAYS

Grammy Award winning pianist, composer and educator Arturo O'Farrill brings his Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra to BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Sundays at 9:00 & 11:00pm. Called the leader of the "first family of Afro-Cuban Jazz", O'Farrill was born in Mexico and grew up in New York City. Son of the late, great composer Chico O'Farrill, Arturo was Educated at Manhattan School of Music, Brooklyn College Conservatory and the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. He played piano in Carla Bley's Big Band from 1979 through 1983 and earned a reputation as a soloist in groups led by Dizzy Gillespie, Steve Turre, Freddy Cole, Lester Bowie, Wynton Marsalis and Harry Belafonte. The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra is the resident large format ensemble of the nonprofit Afro Latin Jazz Alliance (ALJA) founded by Arturo O'Farrill in 2007 and dedicated to preserving the music and heritage of big band Latin jazz, supporting its performance for new audiences, and educating young people in the understanding and performance of this important cultural treasure. There is a $30 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: THE MANHATTAN TRANSFER AT THE BLUE NOTE

The Manhattan Transfer will perform at THE BLUE NOTE(131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) on Thursday through Sunday, November 6th through 9th with shows at 8:00 & 10:30 pm. Founded by Tim Hauser - who passed away on October 16th - in 1964 with Gene Pistilli, Marty Nelson, Erin Dickins and Pat Rosalia, the Manhattan Transfer recorded one album, but because of differences in musical tastes this grouping disolved in just a few years. Tim reformed the group in 1972, this time with Laurel Masse, Janis Siegel and Alan Paul. Cheryl Bentyne joined The Manhattan Transfer in 1979, replacing Laurel. With worldwide sales in the millions, Grammy Awards by the dozen, and veterans of sold-out world tours, The Manhattan Transfer has continued to record and tour and will continue to do so. There is a $40-$50 cover.

NYC: CHRISTIAN TAMBURR & FRIENDS: CELEBRATING BOBBY HUTCHERSON

Christian Tamburr leads a celebration of all-time vibraphone great Bobby Hutcherson on Friday through Sunday, November 7th through 9th with shows at 7:30 & 9:30 pm at DIZZY'S CLUB AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER (33 West 60th Street, NYC - 212-258-9595). Coinciding with Jazz at Lincoln Center's "Bobby Hutcherson: Life of a Legend" performances in The Appel Room, this high-profile group joins forces to celebrate a living legend whose playing has touched younger musicians throughout the jazz world. With special guest vibraphonists and a core band featuring Aaron Goldberg, Yasushi Nakamura, Mark Whitfield, and Stacy Dillard, this group is well-equipped to play material from throughout Hutcherson's career as well as their own compositions inspired by it. This concept Cabaret show, conceived by Kathleen France, is an homage to what kabarett used to be like in the German tradition. With the use of political satire and gallows humor, REVOLUTION will tackle important civil rights issues affecting American people. Singer and Broadway star T. Standing is one of England's leading actors, having starred in the West End and on Broadway as well as plays written by some of the world's foremost writers including Shaw, Wilde, Farquhar, Coward, Stoppard and Grey. Molly acts, writes books, and sings jazz. An actress of stage and screen, Ringwald earned a Golden Globe nomination at age thirteen, and went on to star in numerous films including the iconic films 'Sixteen Candles', 'The Breakfast Club', and 'Pretty in Pink'. On stage, Ringwald starred in Broadway productions of the Pulitzer Prize winning 'How I Learned to Drive', the revival of 'Cabaret', Tony-nominated 'Enchanted April' and the West End production of 'When Harry Met Sally'. NYC: DIZZY GILLESPIE ALL-STARS - FALL SUNDAY BRUNCH RESIDENCY

THE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) presents the Dizzy Gillespie All Stars for a special Fall Sunday Brunch Residency. The band will perform brunch shows every Sunday with performances at 11:30 am & 1:30 pm, through December 28th. History has produced its share of great artists and great people - legendary jazz trumpeter John Birks "Dizzy" Gillespie was both. As a performer, he left behind an incredible record of innovation and inspiration; as a composer, a broad repository of musical masterpieces; and as a man, a legion of friends, colleagues and compatriots who remember him with the same degree of love and esteem they reserve for his work. Officially authorized by Lorraine Gillespie, and under the leadership of Dizzy's long-time bassist John Lee, a selection of ensembles of varying sizes were formed, featuring many of the wide variety of musicians who worked with Dizzy plus some newer talents from the jazz scene. Together they are working to continue the legacy of both the music and the personality of this great jazz master who had such a profound impact on twentieth century music. Bistro Award winning vocalist, Gabrielle Stravelli, returns with her Sunday Jazz Brunch on August 11th at LE PESCADEUX (90 Thompson Street, NYC - 212-966-0021), a French restaurant in the heart of Soho. They will play three sets from 12:30 to 4:00 pm. She will be joined by Saul Rubin on guitar and Pat O'Leary on bass in this charming boite that offers a great, well-priced menu and cozy atmosphere. Award-winning vocalist Gabrielle Stravelli has garnered critical acclaim and a loyal following through her unique take on material from the new American songbook as well as classic standards by artists as varied as Pink Floyd and Duke Ellington, Dolly Parton and Johnny Mercer. A trained actor, Gabrielle has a soulful sensitivity for the story in the lyric. TORONTO: JAZZ BISTRO SUNDAY BRUNCH WITH CLAIRE YUNJIN LEE

Claire Yunjin Lee, who has one more year to go to achieve her Bachelor's Degree of Music at Humber College, will perform at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Sunday, November 9th at 12:00 pm as part of the club's Sunday Jazz Brunch series. The Korean-Canadian pianist, composer, accompanist and educator is growing her reputation among young musicians in the jazz scene of Toronto. Born in Seoul, Korea, Claire moved to Canada when she was 13. Although her precious formal classical training did not continue for long, she was introduced to music again when she was graduated from high school. She achieved certification of Introduction to Jazz Performance program at Humber College, prior to the Bachelor's program. Over the years at Humber, she studied with world-renowned Canadian musicians such as Brian Dickinson, Bernie Senensky, Nancy Walker, Kirk MacDonald, Mike Downes, and New York's David Virelles. As evidenced in her compositions and playing, Claire's highly inspired by Bud Powell and Andrew Hill. Striving towards virtuosity on her piano, Claire seeks to carry both traditional and modern sound of jazz in her future works. No cover charge.
