Why we do this: Research shows that time spent in nature makes people healthier, happier and more creative, and that communities flourish where green spaces thrive. But staying green requires green! City greens need constant attention, repair and upkeep. Music and Art for City Greens helps by producing free professional music and art events to build community awareness and increase donations to spaces which otherwise might go wanting.

Since 2008, when Broadway actress and award winning cabaret veteran Raissa Katona Bennett first brought the joy of live music to Tudor City, thousands of people have enjoyed these concerts under the trees and have come away with new appreciation for and dedication to the green spaces in their midst.

Music and Art for City Greens is a 501c3 non-profit, and all performers and support people generously donate their time and talent for these events. 100% of all donations given by attendees at this summer concert series are collected directly by the Tudor City Greens organization for the upkeep of these spaces.

Where: MUSIC AND ART FOR CITY GREENS invites you to join us again in the South Park at Tudor City (41st street between 2nd and 1st avenues - top of the hill turn left). The organization will continue to produce at Tudor City Greens, while actively promoting creative and inclusive uses of other public green spaces.

NYC: "LATE NIGHTS IN SMOKY BARS", WITH BARBARA BLEIER and AUSTIN PENDLETON - MAY 25th

Barbara Bleier And Austin Pendleton present 'Late Nights In Smoky Bars' at PANGEA (178 Second Avenue, NYC - 212-995-0900) on Wednesday, May 25th at 7:00 pm. The show is an exploration of the relationship of two old friends, in story and song, who meet up in bars through the years. Barbara And Austin have known one another in many roles through several decades, and have shared much of their past and current lives with one another, usually over drinks at a bar. Through an interesting selection of known and unpublished musical material, the relationship gets described and acted out in the present and past, one night at a bar, as it becomes increasingly clear to them, and to the audience. Austin Pendleton is an actor, director, playwright and teacher of acting. He has appeared frequently on, off and off-off Broadway. (His first Broadway appearance was as Motel the Tailor in the original production of Fiddler on the Roof, directed by Jerome Robbins, and starring Zero Mostel.) He can be seen in approximately 200 films. He has appeared regularly on TV on such shows as Oz, Homicide, Law and order and Billions. He curently also teaches acting in New York at HB Studio, where he studied with Uta Hagen and Herbert Berghof. He also studied acting with Robert Lewis. Barbara Bleier is a singer, actor and playwright who has appeared in solo shows and revues in national and international cabaret, as well as appearing on stage, in film, and on TV. The mother of a psychopathic killer in the cult classic, SWOON, she appeared most recently in THIS IS WHERE I LEAVE YOU, with Jane Fonda and Tina Fey, and in THEY CAME TOGETHER, with Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler. She just completed a cabaret engagement in Los Angeles, at the Gardenia. Her solo show, WHO'S YOUR MAMA? was selected for production in the NYC Women at Work Festival, and her two-person revue with Austin Pendleton received critical praise in New York and Chicago. She has studied acting with Austin Pendleton, singing with Barbara Maier, and musical performance with Julie Wilson at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center. NYC: KAI HOFFMAN: THANK YOU, ELLA! AT MAMA'S - MAY 25th

London's Kai Hoffman will perform her acclaimed show 'Thank You, Ella" at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Wednesday, May 25th at 7:00 pm. Without Ella Fitzgerald's Great American Songbook recordings, Kai Hoffman could well have stayed a professional French horn player, instead of chasing the dream of singing live on stage. Kai would have kept practicing her Mozart and never even begun to learn the beautiful 'Someone to Watch Over Me,' or the sassy 'Too Darn Hot.' Well, those iconic recordings changed the course of Kai's life, and she can think of nothing better than celebrating those wonderful songs, and one of the world's greatest-ever jazz singers! 'Thank You, Ella!' is Kai's vocal tribute to the First Lady of Song, and to her immense catalogue of recordings - especially during the years with Verve, when Ella Fitzgerald was not only recording some of the greatest 'pop' albums ever made, but touring for 40-45 weeks per year. In her own small way, Kai would like to pay homage to the great woman who inspired her, from childhood, to sing with energy, excitement, and joyful abandon. Happy birthday! Kai Hoffman is fast gaining a reputation as a mesmerising live performer on the international stage, with shows at the Metropolitan Room in New York City, the Blue Note Milano and the European Jazz Expo, as well as performances in countries as varied as Bangladesh, the Netherlands and Russia. Call for reservations and cover/minimum information.
