NYC: DON REBIC AND CHRISTINE REISNER-REBIC "LUCKY IN LOVE" - A CD CELEBRATION OF ROMANCE

On the heels of a successful run of their first cabaret act, 'Look Who's in Love', distinguished entertainers Christine Reisner-Rebic (an international cabaret chanteuse and dancer) and Don Rebic (Broadway and cabaret musical director, jazz pianist and composer) took their cabaret act into the recording studio. And the result is their new CD, "Lucky in Love", and they will celebrate it's release on Monday, November 9th at 7:00 pm at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 - http://www.metropolitanroom.com/ ). Te recording features timeless standards as well as four songs of their own: "You're Making Me Nervous," "Two Heads Are Better Than One," "Leap of Faith" and the title track, "Lucky in Love." Age is only a number for this couple who met through cabaret and married in Fredonia, Rebic's hometown, nearly three years ago. Together they celebrate the possibility of finding love later in life through a partnership inspired by music of the Great American Songbook. Rebic, well known as an accomplished pianist, steps into the spotlight as a singer in jazzy arrangements with his wife, who also plays violin. Although the live performance will include songs on the CD from 'Look Who's in Love', it will feature new material and a tribute to arranger Hubert "Tex" Arnold, with Jon Burr on bass. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

Armed only with a cocktail, a blanket covered in small pox, and her trusty back up singers, The Martha Rayes, Miss Stinger is ready to remind you that nobody does it like her. Miss Vodka Stinger just returned from The Old Globe Theater in San Diego where life came full circle as she played The Courtesan in Scott Ellis's production of Comedy of Errors. Last year she shared the stage with many New York luminaries in Christmas With the Crawfords Off-Broadway. Over the last 2 years she wrote and produced 6 brand new nightclub acts which premiered at 54 Below selling out each engagement. Her show explores finding a state of grace at forty while reasserting that Latinas don't play. A Tony nominee for On The Town and 42nd Street, Mary has appeared in the Broadway productions of Wicked, Guys and Dolls, Xanadu, Marie Christine, and countless others. She received a 2012 Special Drama Desk Award for her performance in Michael John LaChiusa's Queen Of The Mist. Mary and Michael Starobin collaborated on their 2014 album Have Faith, a boldly unique and contemporary concept album. Now hear many of the songs from that album live, from Rodgers & Hammerstein to Bill Finn to Leonard Cohen ... and beyond. Michael Starobin is a Tony Award-winning orchestrator and nationally renowned musical director. Since his Drama Desk Award-winning Broadway debut as the orchestrator of Sunday in the Park With George, he has had continued success. He was awarded a Tony for Best Orchestrations for his work on Next To Normal, and his other Broadway credits include If/Then, Annie, Spelling Bee, and Assassins. The Broadway at Birdland concert series presents Broadway's Sally Mayes with cabaret's Jeff Harnar in a new duo concert, "Double Take." The one-night-only event will take place on Monday, November 9th at 7:00 pm at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080). Tony Award Nominee Sally Mayes and Multi-MAC Award winner Jeff Harnar join forces in "Double Take: Sally Mayes & Jeff Harnar At The Same Time." See what happens when you cross saucy with dapper, screwball with smooth, and jazz with a Cole Porter twist. Backing Sally & Jeff will be Musical Director Alex Rybeck conducting the Double Take Trio. Featured will be songs by Paul Simon, Mary Rodgers, Comden & Green, Harold Arlen and Ann Hampton Callaway including "Feelin' Groovy," "Just in Time," "That's All," and more. Sally Mayes made her Broadway debut in Cy Coleman's Welcome To The Club. CHICAGO: ROBERT RODI - "MY FAIR LADY, MAN"

Robert Rodi presents "My Fair Lady, Man", a jazz and Beat poetry retelling of Lerner & Loewe's masterwork, at DAVENPORT'S (1383 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL - 773-278-1830) on Monday, November 9th at 8:00 pm. The rain in Spain swings mainly in the plain, as Robert follows "The Sound of Music, Man" with another hipster homage to a classic Broadway show. Every song in the score is interpreted in a way you've never heard it before (a samba "On the Street Where You Live," a California-cool version of "Get Me to the Church On Time," a gospel "With a Little Bit of Luck"), and in between there's Robert's irresistibly bohemian narration of the classic story. Featuring Justin Bernard Bowse on piano and Matt Gold on bass. There is a $12 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
