NYC: LISA JASON: BULLIED TO BEAUTIFUL
Lisa Jason presents her show "Bullied To Beautiful" at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Monday. October 26th at 7:00 pm. When accomplished concert singer and cabaret performer Lisa Jason was a child, her family moved from Long Island to Cape Cod, and the transition would not be a happy one. A self-admitted "ugly duckling," Lisa endured relentless bullying from other kids = both mental and physical - from early grade school through her high school graduation. While her parents did what they could to ease her pain, Lisa was often depressed and felt alone. Lisa did have some friends - her collection of 45 rpm records that played the hit songs of the 1970s, and Lisa escaped into a happier place through the music and the singers and songwriters of the era who would become her saviors - Barbra Streisand, Bette Midler, The Carpenters, Janis Ian, Meat Loaf, Donna Summer, her hero Barry Manilow (who also grew up as a victim of bullying), and more. Their iconic songs helped Lisa "make it through the rain," and transform her into the confident, beautiful singing swan she is today. In her show, Lisa Jason tells her poignant story through the music that she loved throughout her childhood. Lisa has brought together a stellar band for this show, led by Musical Director/ Arranger Ryan Shirar plus MAC Award-winning Sean Harkness on guitar, Mairi Dorman-Phaneuf on cello, and Mike Lunoe on percussion, playing the cajon. The director is Stephen Hanks, who is making his cabaret-directing debut. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

Now living in New York City, Blue released his first project - a 4-track EP entitled, "Here" - filled with smooth vocals that reflect his soulful, country inspirations, as well as carefully crafted lyrics that invoke the feelings of love, despair and individualism that he has experienced in his musical journey.
