LONDON: ELAINE DELMAR AT THE CRAZY COQS
A favourite with both jazz and cabaret audiences, Elaine Delmar, one of the greatest female jazz vocalists from these shores, performs at THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888 ) on Tuesday through Saturday, July 28th through August 1st at 8:00 pm. There are few who understand the repertoire or express it with such dynamic simplicity. Her sure-footed musicianship and sublime delivery of gems from the Great American Songbook continues to thrill audiences all over the world. Elaine will be singing songs from her London and Broadway musical appearances including "Bewitched Bothered and Bewildered", "The Trolley Song" and "Begin the Beguine." Elaine has combined singing with acting, most notably in London shows such as Finians Rainbow, No Strings, Cowardy Custard and Bubbling Brown Sugar, as well as Jerome Kern goes to Hollywood both in London and on Broadway. She was the recipient of the Special Award for Jazz by the 2013 All Party Parliamentary Jazz Awards. Call for cover/minimum information.
LONDON: THE S`WONDERFUL BAND - LATE NIGHT JAZZ AT THE CRAZY COQS
The S'Wonderful Jazz Band is ready to swing for a night of jazz and dance at THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) on Friday, July 31st at 10:30 pm as part of the club's Late Night Jazz Series. The group consists of Emiliano Caroselli on drums, Marta Capponi (vocals), Lance Rose on double bass, Rick Simpson on piano, and special guest Andy Davies on trumpet. Born out of the late night jam sessions at Ronnie Scott's and other hot clubs around town, they are a group of musicians performing at the top of the UK jazz scene. The vast repertoire of their music is from the 30's to the 60's and they bring to their shows a touch of nostalgia, but their performances are pure energy! S'Wonderful is headed by the incredible Marta Capponi's voice, recalling the great Divas of the past and the amazing trumpet of Andy Davies. Call for cover/minimum information.
LONDON: ANNE REID AND STEFAN BEDNARCZYK AT THE PHEASANTRY
One of Britain's best-loved TV actresses Anne Reid, well known for her roles in Our Zoo, Last Tango in Halifax and Dinnerladies, debuts at THE PHEASANTRY (152-154 King's Road, London SW3 4UT - 08456 027 017) on Wednesday through Friday, July 29th through 31st at 8:30 pm. She is teamed once again with the effortlessly charming cabaret artist and musician Stefan Bednarczyk following their sell-out run during the London Festival of Cabaret. This wonderful and very entertaining show celebrates the lives and work of American lyricists Comden and Green, whose lifelong collaboration produced lyrics and screenplays for some of the most beloved and successful Hollywood musicals and Broadway shows of the mid-20th century. Think "New York New York!", "The Party's Over" and "Bells Are Ringing", as well as the book and songs for Broadway and Hollywood classics like "On the Town" and the screenplay for "Singing in the Rain".
