SF: "FOR THE LOVE OF ABBEY" AT SAVANNA JAZZ
A very special show by Benn Bacot & The Bacot Quartet, celebrating one of America's best kept secrets, Abbey Lincoln, will be held at SAVANNA JAZZ (2937 Mission Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-285-3369) on Friday & Saturday, February 22nd & 23rd with performances at 7:00 & 9:30 pm. Abbey Lincoln passed away in 2010. Until then she was the last of her era and the only golden era Jazz singer to compose and record her own material. A singer songwriter, poet, artist & activist, she was truly ahead of her time. Join "The Bass Of The Bay" Benn Bacot as he explores the life and music of this woman who Hollywood initially promoted as the "Black Marilyn Monroe" All new material either favored by or composed by Abbey. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum or dinner.
