NYC: JACK KLEINSINGER'S HIGHLIGHTS IN JAZZ OPENS SEASON WITH "EARLY JAZZ"
One NYC tradition that keeps on going and going is Jack Kleinsinger's Highlights In Jazz - New York's longest running jazz concert series. The 2013 Season lineup has been announced, with all shows performed at THE TRIBECA PERFORMING ARTS CENTER (199 Chambers Street, NYC - 212-220-1460 ), First show for 2013 is on Thursday, January 3rd at 8:00 pm: "Early Jazz" with Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks, Ms. Vinnie Knight and Jonathan Batiste and his New Orleans Stay Human Band. Most recently, Vince Giordano & the Nighthawks won a GRAMMY: Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media for their work on BOARDWALK EMPIRE Volume 1 - Music from the HBO Original Series CD. Vince and the band are heard and seen on Boardwalk Empire as well as USA Network series Royal Pains. New Orleans pianist Jonathan Batiste is an iconic artist, unique in this generation. With his voice on piano and dapper sense of style, he has ignited the NYC music scene. Ms. Vinnie Knight Ms. Vinnie Knight was born in Harlem, New York, and at an early age, she sang in church choirs. Her smooth, velvety, mysteriously angelic voice has the sophistication of the great Sarah Vaughan, the earthiness of Pearl Bailey, and the seductiveness of Billie Holiday.
