Soul/Vibes Legend Roy Ayers is featured at BLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) Thursday through Sunday, January 24th through 27th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Constantly performing and recording since the 1960s, he is the most well known jazz vibraphonists. He has produced some of the most loved modern soul-jazz records of all time. Classics beyond genre such as, "Everybody Loves The Sunshine", most influential afro-jazz with musician Fela Kuti, "Africa - Centre Of The World", and the most seminal jazz-funk, such as "Running Away". Roy Ayers could very well be the best jazz/R&B artist you don't know. In his 40-plus years as a vibraphonist, he has produced a string of soul and funk classics, like "We Live In Brooklyn Baby" and "Everybody Loves the Sunshine," that has arguably made him the second-most sampled musician in hip-hop, after James Brown.
