NYC: AWARD WINNING GREGORY GENERET AT THE METROPOLITAN ROOM
Gregory Generet, along with special guest, Jazz Trombonist, Wycliffe Gordon, will perform at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Tuesday, March 20th; Wednesday, March 21st; Wednesday, March 28th; and Thursday, March 29th, all shows at 7:00 pm. Generet is a native New Yorker where his love for music started at an early age and the stoops and streets introduced him to the legendary Motown sound. But it was from the older inhabitants of his Brooklyn neighborhood that he was encouraged to listen to Jazz. He has performed throughout New York City with sold out shows at Dizzy's Club Coca Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center and the Highline Ballroom. He has performed in Paris and Italy. Honing his skills along the way with the talented likes of Mike Renzi, Laurence Hobgood, Eric Reed and Onaje Allan Gumbs. After receiving three Emmy Awards for his work at CBS Network, Generet focused on his own work and in 2009 he released his debut CD (re)Generet-ion. Taking on the theme of romance, he has re-imaged the term "Standard" by adding his own vocal flexibility and appreciation for the clarity that is innate to Jazz aficionados. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
