NYC: DARYL SHERMAN SWINGS NEW YEAR'S EVE/ EVE
Jazz vocalist/pianist Daryl Sherman celebrates "New Year's Eve/Eve" on Tuesday, September 27th (Rosh Hashana on September 28th ushers in 5772) at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788). Sherman is internationally acclaimed for a stellar 14-year run at the Waldorf-Astoria where she played Cole Porter's Steinway. Last June, she headlined the annual Cole Porter Festival in his hometown of Peru, IN. Sherman has performed at The Algonquin's Oak Room, Feinstein's, Rose Hall with Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Dizzy's Coca Cola and 59E59 Theaters where she was lauded for her band singer role in a centennial tribute to Artie Shaw. As a sparkling mainstay of Manhattan's nightlife, there's hardly jazz joint, supper club, Chinese restaurant or hotel that Daryl has missed. Her many recordings are in regular national rotation on Cable TV's Music Choice and Sirius/XM Radio. She was presented the 2010 MAC Award "Best Major Recording" for her Johnny Mercer Centennial CD - which was used in a Mercer documentary produced by Clint Eastwood. There is a $12 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
