Since then, the trio has completed multiple tours of Canada, the US and Europe, including opening for Earth, Wind & Fire at the Ottawa Jazz Festival in 2014. The band is a true collective. Chris Donnelly represents a new generation of jazz pianists, composers and improvisers dedicated to creating programs that are engaging, entertaining and educating. Daniel Fortin was born and raised in Peterborough, Ontario. He graduated from the University of Toronto's Jazz Performance Program in 2007. SAN FRANCISCO: EMERSON HART & TONY LUCCA AT YOSHI'S

Tonic frontman Emerson Hart and NBC The Voice's soulful singer/songwriter Tony Lucca perform in a co-bill atYOSHI'S (1330 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-655-5600) on Wednesday, August 6th at 8:00 pm. Emerson Hart, frontman for the multi-platinum band Tonic, comes back to time and again on his new record, his first solo release in over six years. Beauty in Disrepair, due out in early 2014, touches on loss, but also the beauty of rebirth, newfound love, family and starting a clean slate. Beauty in Disrepair marks a remarkably polished and honest follow-up to his 2007 solo debut Cigarettes & Gasoline, a critically-acclaimed album that spawned two Top 20 singles. Singer/songwriter Tony Luca is like most current singer/ songwriters between the ages of 20 and 40 who have a seemingly identical list of influences as their peers. Whether its the soul-bearing lyrics of Stevie Wonder, or the gritty folk music of Bob Dylan, the unbridled creativity of Dave Matthews, or the overwhelming truth of Ray LaMontange, somehow these artists all seem to inform the landscape of the modern singer/songwriter. What tends to separate an artist from that pack is experience, confidence and self-exploration. 8 full-length albums into his career, Tony Lucca has become a standard-bearer to some, a torch-bearer to others, and all the while Lucca's confidence is matched only by his humble appreciation for his path in the wild world of entertainment. There is a $24 cover.

WASHINGTON, DC: TINSLEY ELLIS AT BLUES ALLEY

Hard-rocking blues-soaked guitarist/ vocalist/ songwriter Tinsley Ellis will perform at BLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) on Wednesday, August 6th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Ellis sings and plays with the energy and soul of all the great Southern musicians who have come before him. Ellis attacks his music with rock power and blues feeling, following in the tradition of Deep South musical heroes Duane Allman, Freddie King, Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes. His live shows feature extended fretwork filled with melodic and rhythmic experimentation, in the spirit of jam bands like his friends Widespread Panic and The Allman Brothers. Call for cover/minimum information.

BETHESDA, MD: THE GREG BOYER PELOTON AT BETHESDA BLUES

The Greg Boyer Peloton will be presented at BETHESDA BLUES & JAZZ SUPPER CLUB (7719 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, MD - 240-330-4500 - ) on Wednesday, August 6th at 7:30 pm. Trombonist Greg Boyer's resume includes Prince, Parliament/Funkadelic, Chuck Brown, Maceo Parker, George Duke, Stanley Clarke and more. Broadening the notion of what has been considered a "jazz standard", his unique twist on the traditional jazz format includes (along with original material) swinging remakes of Steely Dan, Funkadelic, Foreigner, Blondie, and more. Yes, it swings, but it's a fun-friendly party of jazzy proportions - not ever a "grey poupon" evening of music!! There is a $15 cover.
