Billy Stritch's new show, 'I've Got Your Number - The Jazz Of Cy Coleman' will be performed at THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) on Tuesday through Saturday, October 15th through 19th at 8:00 pm. The show celebrates the music of one of Broadway and pop music's greatest composers and includes selections from many of his Broadway shows (Little Me, Sweet Charity, City Of Angels) as well as great pop standards (The Best Is Yet To Come, It Amazes Me, Witchcraft). Billy Stritch is one of the premier singer-pianists on the New York and international jazz and cabaret scene and has performed in London many times, both as a solo artist and as accompanist to Liza Minnelli. His most recent Broadway credit was as musical supervisor and pianist for Liza Minnelli's Tony Award winning show Liza's At The Palace, for which he also reconceived the vocal arrangements of the legendary Kay Thompson and The Williams Brothers. In addition to his twenty-two year association with Liza, Billy also accompanies and arranges for Linda Lavin, Marilyn Maye, and Paulo Szot. On stage, he originated the role of Oscar, the rehearsal pianist in the 2001 Broadway revival of 42nd Street, performing the role 488 times. He is the winner of the BMI Million-Seller Award, Music City News Top Ten Song of the Year, and numerous Backstage and Manhattan Cabaret Awards. In his lengthy career, Cy Coleman wrote with some of the greatest lyricists of the 20th century, including Dorothy Fields, Carolyn Leigh and Camden and Green, and his songs have been recorded by virtually every great singer of the golden age of popular music, including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Judy Garland and Peggy Lee. The Kalk Bay Theatre and multi award winning cabaret artist Godfrey Johnson present his brand new musical sit down comedy cabaret show, "Mr Johnson Presents" atKALK BAY THEATRE (KBT) (52 Main Road, Kalk Bay, Cape Town 7946. Legendary Bassist Stanley Clark performs at BLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) on Thursday through Sunday, October 17th through 20th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Exploding into the jazz world in 1971, Stanley was a lanky teenager from the Philadelphia Academy of Music. He arrived in New York City and immediately landed jobs with famous bandleaders such as: Horace Silver, Art Blakey, Dexter Gordon, Joe Henderson, Pharaoh Saunders, Gil Evans, Stan Getz, and a budding young pianist composer named Chick Corea. All of these musicians recognized immediately the ferocious dexterity and complete musicality the young Clarke possessed on the acoustic bass. Not only was he expert at crafting bass lines and functioning as a timekeeper in the bass' traditional role, Stanley also possessed a sense of lyricism and melody gained from his bass heroes Charles Mingus, Scott LaFaro, and others, including non-bass players like John Coltrane. BOSTON: JORGE ARCE AND RAIZ DE PLENA AT THE REGATTABAR

Medici Musica Productions presents Jorge Arce and Raiz de Plena at THE REGATTABAR at the Charles Hotel (1 Bennett Street, Cambridge, MA - 617-395-7757) on Thursday, October 17th at 7:30 pm. Jorge Santiago Arce was born in Belgica, a working class neighborhood of Ponce, Puerto Rico. Ponce is a city well known for its rich cultural traditions and is characterized by the emergence and evolution of important Afro-Caribbean music and dances such as the "Bomba," "Plena" and "Danza." Half of Jorge's family comes from San Anton, mainly a black community known for the African tradition of the Bomba music; the other half comes from the music tradition. In addition to being an actor, dancer, singer, and performer, he is also a cultural historian and researcher. Since 1983, it has been Arce's responsibility to expand the Bomba and Plena through workshops, classes, residencies programs and performances at school sites, festivals, parent and community organizations, and universities, thus becoming one of the most important cultural liaisons to the Puerto Rican community in the United States. Brooklyn-born pianist, composer and vocalist Gene DiNovi will perform in trio (Gene DiNovi - piano, Andrew Scott - guitar, Clark Johnston - bass) at THE JAZZ BISTRO(251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Thursday through Saturday, October 17th through 19th at 9:00 pm. DiNovi made his first visit to Toronto as an accompanist to Carmen McRae in 1971, and made his home here the following year. He has reached legendary status on the Canadian jazz scene over the decades since. Although DiNovi has been recording since 1945 as a sideman and/or accompanist to jazz giants including Lester Young, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Charlie Parker, Ben Webster, Peggy Lee, Anita O'Day, Mel Torme, Tony Bennett, Carmen McRae, and Buddy DeFranco, he is likely best known as Lena Horne's accompanist, playing with her for seven years from 1955 to 1963 and occasionally after that. In Toronto, DiNovi has divided his still-thriving career between extended solo piano engagements at several of the city's more exclusive rooms and studio work as an arranger and composer of incidental music, jingles, and film scores. Now past his 80th birthday (2008), DiNovi is one of the few musicians of his generation who is still actively playing and releasing new albums. There is a $20 cover.

In a recording career that spans almost three decades and 24 albums, Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Kenny G has grafted elements of R&B, pop, and Latin music to a jazz foundation, solidifying his reputation as the premier artist in contemporary jazz. Since the early '80s, his combination of unparalleled instrumental chops and indelible melodies has resulted in sales of more than 75 million records worldwide (45 million in the U.S. alone) and more than a dozen climbs to the top of Billboard's Contemporary Jazz chart. After the success of Rhythm and Romance (2008) and Heart and Soul (2010), the second of which was a return to the classic R&B sounds of his Seattle childhood, Kenny has taken a step in a new direction with his latest release, Namaste India (2012). A collaboration with Indian santoor player and vocalist Rahul Sharma, the album captures both the natural meditative sound of Indian classical music and the flamboyant jazz melodies of the saxophone. NYC: DAVY KNOWLES WITH SPECIAL GUEST NEAL EVANS

Blues guitarist and singer Davy Knowles will perform atIRIDIUM JAZZ CLUB (1650 Broadway, NYC - 212-582-2121) on Thursday, October 17th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Knowles, formerly of the blues-rock band Back Door Slam, is now working as a solo artist under the name Davy Knowles and Back Door Slam. With Back Door Slam, he played lead guitar and sang on their debut album, Roll Away. After a split-up with bassist Adam Jones and drummer Ross Doyle, Knowles released his first solo album, Coming Up for Air, on May 19, 2009. Knowles drew his musical influences from blues musicians that he grew up listening to such as Dire Straits, Peter Green, and Eric Clapton'sCream. Due to his home country's proximity to Ireland, Knowles has stated that his music also is influenced by the Celtic genre, which is noted to be present in the song "Roll Away". In April 2009, Knowles toured with British guitarist Jeff Beck on his American tour, where he was the opening act. He toured with Joe Satriani and Chickenfoot in the United States through December 2009. Davy Knowles toured with The Rhythm Devils in 2010. There is a $27.50 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.

CCP (Chicago Cabaret Professionals ) will present their 15th Anniversary Gala on Sunday, October 20th at 7:00 pm at the PARK WEST THEATER (322 West Armitage, Chicago, IL). The Gala is titled "Singing Our Own Song: a Celebration of Chicago Cabaret." The event will honor Daryl Nitz with the Chicago Gold Coast Award and Davenport's Piano Bar and Cabaret, and will celebrate 15 years of cabaret in Chicago! The organization has planned a spectacular evening!

Doors open at 5:45 with a special pre-gala "Cocktail Hour" from 6:15 to 7:00 pm with George Howe, Musical Director, and featuring Larry Dooley, Carla Gordon, Anita Kallen, Paul Motondo, Judy Rossignuolo-Rice, Pam Peterson and Cheryl Szucsits.

Michael "Big Mike" Lynche will perform at BLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) on Wednesday, October 16th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Lynche's life has been defined by two things: love and second chances. The Florida native and devoted family man's rise from obscurity was well documented through his riveting appearance on American Idol. Known to America as "Big Mike," he was famously "saved" by the judges, giving him a second chance to continue through the prized competition. Mike's heartfelt music has been virtually a lifetime in the making. He got his first guitar when he was three and would take his axe to church, where he would mimic the moves of the band's guitar player. Beyond church, Michael's mother shared her love of music with Mike and introduced him to a wide range of artistic sounds and styles, including 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., Michael Jackson, Earth, Wind & Fire, Bonnie Raitt and Jimi Hendrix. A native Chicagoan, Abbe began voice training at age 10 and singing professionally (and playing slide trombone) while in ninth grade. One of the true masters of the bop vocabulary, Phil Woods, will perform at THE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) on Tuesday & Wednesday, October 15th & 16th with shows at 8:00 & 10:30 pm. He will be joined on stage by Brian Lynch, trumpet; Bill Charlap, piano; Bill Goodwin, drums and Steve Gilmore, bass. Woods has had his own sound since the mid-'50s and stuck to his musical guns throughout a remarkably productive career. There has never been a doubt that he is one of the top alto saxophonists alive, and he has lost neither his enthusiasm nor his creativity through the years. Woods contributed the famous alto solo to Billy Joel's hit recording of "Just the Way You Are" and has been one of Michel Legrand's favorite artists, guesting with Legrand on an occasional basis; he has made dozens of rewarding recordings himself through the years. He debuted as a leader in 1954 and has since recorded for Prestige, Savoy, RCA, Mode, Epic, Candid (the brilliant The Right of Swing in 1961), Impulse, MGM, Verve, Embryo, Testament, Muse, Omnisound, Enja, and Chesky, and has recorded with hisQuintet/Quartet for RCA, Gryphon, Adelphi, Clean Cuts, SeaBreeze (two sets adding Chris Swansen's inventive synthesizer to the band), Red, Antilles, Palo Alto, BlackHawk, Denon, and quite extensively for Concord. Some key sets include 1960's Rights of Swing on Candid, 1974's Musique Du Bois on 32 Jazz, 1981's Birds of a Feather from Antilles, and 2002's Americans Swinging in Paris from EMI. NYC: TERRY REID & COSMIC AMERICAN DERELICTS

Terry Reid & Cosmic American Derelicts will perform at IRIDIUM JAZZ CLUB(1650 Broadway, NYC - 212-582-2121) on Wednesday, October 16th at 8:00 pm. Terry Reid is without doubt one of the greatest rock/soul voices this country has ever produced or is indeed likely to. A Terry Reid concert should be a cherished memory for any self-respecting fan of the greats of British music. Terry turned down the front man's job with Led Zeppelin, recommending his mate Robert Plant instead, a similar offer and rebuff to Deep Purple. He underwent two World Tours with The Rolling Stones, US tours with Cream, UK tours with Jethro Tull and Fleetwood Mac, The Isle of White Festival in 1969 and Glastonbury in 1970, played at Mick Jagger's wedding, before soured record deals resulted in Terry leaving Britain for America nearly 40 years ago. The full story includes numerous collaborations with Graham Nash, covers of Reid songs by Marianne Faithfull, The Hollies, The Raconteurs (the hugely popular 'Rich Kid Blues'), film soundtracks, including a song in George Clooney's recent film 'Up In The Air', and a catalogue of 6 studio albums, including the seminal album 'The River', re-released to critical acclaim in 2002 and the 1976 Nash produced 'Seed of Memory'. A Reid song 'Horses Through a Rainstorm' also features on CSN's box set. There is a $25 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.
