NYC: "SMOOTH OPERATORS: IN THE MOOD" AT THE DUPLEX

The Smooth Operators will perform at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) on Thursday, October 17th at 7:00 pm. Smooth Operators is a 1940s-style Jazz and Swing band that will transport you to a time of hep cats and swingin' tunes. Comprised of Allyson Briggs (Vocals), Tucker Landis (Guitar), Chris Teske (Bass), and Pete Snyder (Drums), this dynamic band of old souls will have you humming and tapping your feet along to popular hits that include "Fly Me to the Moon," "At Last," and "It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing!)" There is a $10 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: NATALIE JOY JOHNSON AND EVE STARR IN HIGH SPIRITS & LOW STANDARDS

Natalie Joy Johnson and Eve Starr will appear HIGH SPIRITS & LOW STANDARDS, a 1970's nightclub-style act at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Thursdays, October 10th & 17th at 7:30 pm. The show is packed with classic and pop standards that have been twisted, bent and belted out by two brassy show gals. Think "The Girl From Ipenema" with a reggae twang, or P!nk's "Get This Party Started" as a torchy ballad. Think Singapore Slings and Pink Ladies. Think Nolan Miller sequined jumpsuits and Norma Kamali printed caftans. Natalie Joy Johnson is a singer/actress/cabaret artiste extraordinaire living in New York City. Natalie broke out onto the NY theatre scene in 2004, playing the role of Nadia in the off-Broadway cult hit, BARE: A POP OPERA. She made her Broadway debut as law school lesbian Enid Hoopes in LEGALLY BLONDE: THE MUSICAL. Bon-vivant Eve Starr has been stirring the pot of NYC nightlife fabulousness for the past several years. This southern born debutramp rapidly established herself as a fresh and sparkling jewel in the blinding tiara of NYC drag with appearances on MTV, Kevin Cahoon's Fashionista video, Booka Shade's Sweet Lies video and co-starred along side Jai Rodriguez on Broadway in Exposed for the Actor's Fund. She has also graced the sticky after-hours stages of some of New York's finest establishments including therapy (Psycho Babble at therapy with co-host Mimi Imfurst and Codependent Tuesdays with Natalie Joy Johnson), Lavish Lounge, Splash, The Parkside Lounge, East of Eighth, and the infamous The Slide. There is a $20 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.

FEATURED OPEN MIC EVENT

"Broadway Sessions" is an evening of musical performances, games, comedy and open mic featuring new Broadway guests each week. The show takes place every Thursday evening at 10:30 pm at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909). It is hosted by Ben Cameron (Wicked, Aida, Footloose) and features composer/musical director Will Van Dyke on piano. Get up close and personal with Broadway's brightest as the stars bare their souls, interact with the crowd and celebrate all things BROADWAY. Open Mic party goes til 12:00 am featuring. There is a $5 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.

NYC: JASON ROBERT BROWN'S THE LAST 5 YEARS IN CONCERT

In celebration of the brand new cast recording of Jason Robert Brown's much-loved musical, 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) salutes Jamie & Cathy for four very special concerts. Performances are Wednesday & Thursday, October 16th & 17th at 7:00 pm; and Friday & Saturday, October 18th & 19th at 11:00 pm. The concert will feature the stars of the recent revival, Betsy Wolfe & Adam Kantor. Cover charges vary by night but run from $35-$55 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

NYC: CHARLES BUSCH RIDIN' HIGH AT 54 BELOW

Acclaimed actor/ Tony-nominated playwright and drag legend returns to 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) with a brand new show, chock full of outrageous personal stories, original characters and classic songs; all perfumed with his own unique form of glamour. Performances are Thursdays, October 17th & 24th, November 7th & 14th. all shows at 9:30 pm. Charles Busch continues to delight and re-define his craft as a master humorist, illusionist and camp icon. The author of dozens of hit plays (Tale of the Allergists Wife, Red Scare on Sunset, Flipping My Wig, Times Square Angel, Our Leading Lady, The Third Story, Die! Mommie! Die!, Psycho Beach Party, The Divine Sister & Vampire Lesbians of Sodom to name but a few). Musical Director is Tom Judson. There is a $35-$45 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.
