Peggy Herman makes her much-anticipated return to the New York cabaret stage with a new show, "Herman on Herman ... with a Touch of Merman" to be presented at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440). Directed by Peter Glebo and Tommy Tune, with music director Alex Rybeck on piano, "Herman on Herman ... " will be presented on Saturday through Monday, May 14th through 16th at 7:00 pm and on Sunday, June 5th at 4:00 pm. Herman has appeared at Town Hall, and such fabled Manhattan nightspots as The Firebird Cafe, The King Kong Room, and Eighty Eights. Her career was launched at sea, where she performed on five-star cruise ships with Cunard, Royal Viking, Oceania, and Crystal Cruise Lines. This in turn led to a nightclub career, during which she opened for Phyllis Diller at Miami Beach's Fontainebleau Hotel, and, later on, for Bob Hope, Alan King and Milton Berle. The long-recurring musical comedy revue Around the World in a Bad Mood returns for a limited engagement in NYC Thursday through Saturday, May 12th through 14th at 7:00 pm and Sunday, May 15th at 4:30 pm at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438 ). Written by real-life flight attendant Rene Foss, ...Bad Mood is a non-stop flight of fancy through the chaotic, ridiculous and all-too-real life of a flight attendant and the frustrations and foibles of commercial air travel. Through sketches and songs, you'll take a terrifically turbulent ride on the journey of a flight attendant through the job interview to their first flight to what it's like to spend years on the job. The show - now in its 12th year! - features original music by Michael McFrederick. The cast includes 2010 MAC Award winner Hector Coris, Rene Foss and Rachael Lee. MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets) has announced the nominees for the The 25th Annual MAC Awards which will be held Tuesday, May 10th at 7:30 PM at BB KING'S BLUES CLUB (237 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-997-4144). MAC will be announcing the winners and handing out awards in 21 categories to honor the best in live performance, recordings, songs and shows in cabaret, jazz, and standup comedy from the past year. The evening will be hosted by CHRISTINE PEDI.

No Stars Destiny Productions present Jenny Rieu Cabaret Showcase "An Evening with The Lady In Red" at M BAR (1253 North Vine Street, Hollywood, CA - 323-856-0036) on Friday, May 6th at 10:00 pm. The Jenny Rieu Cabaret Showcase will revisit some of the classics by composers such as Cole Porter, Edith Piaf and even a selection of personal songs written in French And English by the artist herself, in reference to her French Parisian heritage. Miss Rieu who has performed onstage in Paris, New York and now in Los Angeles, will be accompanied by the Russian born pianist prodigy, Michael Bogomolny. Jenny Rieu is a graduate of American Academy of Dramatic Arts of New York and a Classically trained Opera Singer, born and raised in Paris, France. She began singing when she was 13 years old and then added theater to her skills. Her savoir faire for Cabaret comes from both her theater and stage background. The New York International Fringe Festival (FringeNYC), the largest multi-arts festival in North America, will celebrate its 15th anniversary in August. Since the opening of the very first festival in August of 1997, FringeNYC has never thrown a benefit. That is about to change as the Alumni Association of the New York International Festival presents THE FringeBENEFITS SERIES every Thursday evening for 15 weeks at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) beginning on May 5th. International jazz and cabaret recording artists, The Follen Angels, return to the renownedDON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) for one joyous evening with their dynamic new show "ELLA AND HER FELLAS" on Thursday, May 5th at 9:15 pm. The Angels have filled concert halls and radio airwaves, and continue to draw enthusiastic audiences from Scullers Jazz Club in Boston, to Mechanics Hall in Worchester, to the Metropolitan Room in New York City, and to sharing the stage with HBO Comedian, Lewis Black. The Follen Angels recently released their new CD, "I Got Rhythm: In Love with Gershwin and Cole Porter". The Angel's new show, "Ella and Her Fellas" pulls out all the stops by channeling the spirit, elegance and fun of America's "First Lady of Song", Miss Ella Fitzgerald. The music and the friendship she shared with Louis Armstrong, Sinatra and Duke Ellington is highlighted in this loving homage to the lady, her pals and some of the greatest jazz standards ever written. Kritzerland at the Gardenia presents You're Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile: The Music of Charles Strouse on Wednesday, May 4th starting at 9:00 pm at THE GARDENIA (7066 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA - 323-467-7444 ). Over the years, Bruce Kimmel has produced CDs featuring many Charles Strouse songs, including an entire album devoted to his music, Jason Graae's "You're Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile." In this show, you'll hear a mix of the well-known and the really obscure - songs from such shows as Bye Bye Birdie, Golden Boy, Annie, Dance A Little Closer, Mayor, Rags, All American, and some shows you've never heard of. Special guest is Jason Graae. Others scheduled to appear (in alphabetical order): Dan Callaway (Broadway National Company: The Phantom of the Opera), Melissa Mitchell (Cinderella, in Cinderella, Cabrillo Music Theatre; CLO Seussical, Oklahoma), Kevin Symons (George in Rubicon's She Loves Me; off-Broadway: Wicked City Blues), Alet Taylor (Adelaide in Cabrillo's Guys & Dolls; Lick Me/Bite Me The Producers), Shannon Warne (National tour Camelot as Guenevere; currently in Having It All at NoHo Arts; ) and Melody Hollis (Broadway: Susan in Irving Berlin's White Christmas). Music Director will be Shelly Markham. As with all live entertainment events, performers are subject to change without notice. Kritzerland at The Gardenia shows happen on the first Wednesday of every month. Cover charge is $15 with a 2-drink minimum or dinner.

On Wednesday, May 4th, Katerina's Composers Studio, hosted by Jeannie Tanner, continues at KATERINA'S CLUB(1920 West Irving Park Road, Chicago, IL - 773-348-7592) from 7:30 to 11:30 pm. This monthly showcase features singer/songwriters and composers from the Chicago area. This month the showcase will feature the gifted composers Carla Gordon, Diana Lawrence, Stephanie Rogers and June Shellene. There will be performances by each of the artists, along with conversations with these singer-songwriters. Host Jeannie Tanner will interview the artists during the evening and open up the discussions, taking audience questions. The highlight of these shows continues to be the "improv songwriting" segment - as the songwriters take suggestions from the audience to compose on-the-spot. There us a $7 cover.

Terance Reddick (Destino 4) and Patrice Covington (Dreamgirls) will perform at a benefit hosted by and featuring performances by Nashville entertainer Johnny D. and NYC singer Savannah White at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Wednesday, May 4th at 9:30 pm. Proceeds from this event will be donated to AIDS Walk NYC 2011 which will take place on May 15th. Over 5 million dollars were raised for last years walk, and Terance and Patrice are hoping to add to that amazing figure and beat it this year. There is a $10 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.

Ray Charles sang just about every kind of music there is, from rock & roll to Broadway, blues, country, and jazz. This show touches on all of those genres with songs by Lennon & McCartney, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Irving Berlin, Ashford & Simpson, and Buck Owens - as well as Ray Charles himself. The show features Ross Patterson as musical director and Adam Armstrong on bass. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
