MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets) continues its popular primer seminar Cabaret 101, on the basics of producing a successful cabaret show on Wednesday, June 24th at 6:30 pm at WHERE EAGLES DARE's Blackbird Room (347 West 36th Street, NYC). Moderated by Hector Coris, panelists signed on so far are Tracy Stark, Lisa Moss, Sue Matsuki and Linda Amiel Burns. No cover for members of MAC - $10 for non-members.

NYC: MAC/ASCAP SONGWRITER SHOWCASE SATURDAY AT THE METROPOLITAN ROOM

ASCAP (The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers), in association with MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets) present another installment in their recurring Songwriter Showcase series. This event will take place on Saturday, March 21st at 2:00 pm at the THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 - ). The showcase will be hosted by award-winning performer and producer Jamie deRoy, who will be welcoming songwriters Jeff Blumenkrantz and Steven Lutvak. Sidney Myer will also perform songs from various composers. Special guest will be multi-platinum award winning recording artist David Pomeranz. No cover for members of ASCAP and MAC. Non-members $10 cover. There is no minimum, but a cash bar for drinks and snacks will be available.

NYC: MAC NEW FACE SHOWCASE: THE DEBUTS, PART 1

To familiarize members on nominees for this year's MAC AWARDS voting, MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets) presents the first set of Debut Nominees on the Preliminary Ballot on Saturday, February 28th at 3:30 pm at THE REPRISE ROOM AT DILLON'S (245 West 54th Street, NYC). Nominees appearing are Kim Smith, Nicole Kafka, Edd Clark, Shannon Brown, Stearns Matthews and Cait Doyle. Reservations must be made through the MAC reservation number, 212-465-2662 ext. 1 or via e-mail at RSVP@MACNYC.com . There is no cover for MAC members ($10 for non-members). A second showcase of debut preliminary nominees will be held on Saturday, March 7th.

MAC ANNOUNCE MEMBERSHIP DEADLINE

The folks at MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets) asked me to remind everyone that all the applications for the 2009 MAC Awards have been compiled and the Preliminary Ballots for mailing to the membership are being prepared. You MUST be a current, paid-up member in order to receive a ballot and vote. Non-members cannot vote. MAC must receive your renewal/membership by tomorrow, February 15th to receive the Preliminary Ballot. NYC: MAC SEMINAR ON CABARET SHOW PRODUCTION

The Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC) presents "THE DO'S AND DON'TS TO PUTTING ON A SUCCESSFUL CABARET SHOW" at STUDIOS 353 (353 West 48th Street, 2nd floor, NYC - RSVP to 212-465-2662 ext. 1) from 3:30 to 5:00 pm. The seminar features a panel of cabaret professionals, from musical directors, technicians, booking managers to speak from their experience, answer questions and talk about the latest trends in cabaret and live entertainment. Seminar panelists scheduled to appear are award-winning director Collette Black (also past booking manager of Upstairs at Rose's Turn and currently booking The Reprise Room at Dillon's), Karen Mack (multiple award-winning performer and consultant), Shawn Ryan (NBC's "America's Got Talent" semi-finalist), MAC-Award winning musical director Steven Ray Watkins, and multiple MAC, BISTRO, CABARET HOTLINE and N.Y. NIGHTLIFE Award winner Lennie Watts. More panelists TBA. The seminar will be moderated by Hector Coris. Free for MAC members - $10 for non-members.

MAC NOMINATIONS DEADLINE EXTENDED TO JANUARY 24th

MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets) has extended the submission deadline for MAC Award nominations to Saturday, January 24th, 2009. All applications MUST BE RECEIVED by January 24th. (Not postmarked by that date.) Applications and instructions available at www.MACNYC.com. The 2009 MAC AWARDS will be held on Tuesday, May 12th at 6:30 pm at BB KING'S BLUES CLUB (237 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-997-4144 - ). Ticket information will be included in the preliminary ballot mailed to all members and on the MAC website soon.
