NYC: THE MAC AWARDS - TUESDAY - MAY 4TH
PERFORMERS, PRESENTERS AND HONOREES ANNOUNCED

The Manhattan Association of Cabarets (MAC) is proud to announce that The 24th Annual MAC Awards Show will be held on Tuesday, May 4th at 7:30 pm at BB KING'S BLUES CLUB (237 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-997-4144). MAC will be announcing the winners and handing out awards in 24 categories to honor the best in live performance, recordings, songs and shows in cabaret, jazz, and standup comedy from the past year. The evening will be hosted by Sharon McNight (MORE)

NYC: 23RD ANNUAL MAC AWARDS AT B.B. KING BLUES CLUB

MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets) will celebrate the 23rd Annual MAC Awards on Monday, May 18th at 7:30 pm at BB KING'S BLUES CLUB (237 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-997-4144 - ). Doors open at 6:00 pm. The show will be hosted by Andrea Marcovicci and Nancy Witter. This year's performers/presenters include Polly Bergen (Recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award), Klea Blackhurst, Tyne Daly, Karen Mason, Marilyn Maye, John McDaniel, Rex Reed, Steve Ross and Julie Wilson among others. Featured performers include John Bucchino, Brandon Cutrell, Jamie deRoy, Tony DeSare, Jenna Esposito, Tommy Femia, The Fabulous Pink Flamingos, Eric Michael Gillett, Tanya Holt, Lina Koutrakos, Angela LaGreca, Barry Levitt, Lorinda Lisitza, Sidney Myer, Georga Osborne, Christine Pedi, Poor Baby Bree, Ricky Ritzel, Spider Saloff and Anne Steele.

Taking part in a special tribute in honor of the 50th Anniversary of Motown and its contribution to expanding the American Songbook will be the 2009 MAC AWARD nominees for Best Male/Female Vocalist: Raissa Katona Bennett, Jenna Esposito, Terese Genecco, Julie Reyburn, Marcus Simeone, Kim Smith, Jonathan Whitton, and Michael Winther.

The 2009 MAC Awards will bestow the Board of Directors Award to Joey Reynolds and Myra Chanin of the JOEY REYNOLDS SHOW, who consistently promote Cabaret, Comedy and Jazz artists on the long running WOR Radio program. Also receiving the honor will be Eva Swan and Vocal Ease for bringing Broadway and Cabaret talent to hospitals, nursing homes and senior center for over a decade. The TimeOut New York Special Achievement Award will go to Poor Baby Bree.

Tickets are priced at $45, $75 and $125.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE 2009 MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets) AWARDS: Due to a booking conflict/problem at BB KING'S BLUES CLUB (237 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-997-4144), the 2009 MAC Awards will not be held on Tuesday, May 12th as originally announced. All deadlines for voting, etc. will remain the same but the new date for the MAC Awards show is now on Monday, May 18th at 6:30 pm. More information at www.MACNYC.com.

MAC EXTENDS AWARD NOMINATION DEADLINE TO JANUARY 24th

MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets) has extended the submission deadline for MAC Award nominations to Saturday, January 24th, 2009. All applications MUST BE RECEIVED by January 24th. (Not postmarked by that date.) Applications and instructions available at http://www.MACNYC.com. The 2009 MAC AWARDS will be held on Tuesday, May 12th at 6:30 pm at BB KING'S BLUES CLUB (237 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-997-4144 - ). Ticket information will be included in the preliminary ballot mailed to all members and on the MAC website soon.
