NYC: RETURN ENGAGEMENT OF LIFE, LOVE & ALL THAT JAZZ - MAY 23rd

Debra Vogel returns to DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) to present 2 return performances of her acclaimed show of last year, 'Life, Love & All That Jazz, at New York'. Performances are scheduled for Monday, May 23rd at 7:00 pm and Saturday, June 4th at 4:00 pm. After performing before four full houses in September and December, Debra returns by popular demand. Charming and effervescent, she brings her unique warmth and humor back to the stage, taking us on a roller coaster ride of life and relationships. Singing songs by such diverse composers/ lyricists as Stephen Sondheim, Tom Waits, and John Pizzarelli & Jessica Molaskey, Ms. Vogel wraps her versatile voice around both comic and heartfelt lyrics, exploring the risks and rewards of living and loving to the hilt. A seasoned performer throughout the New York region, Ms. Vogel was half of the popular musical duo, O'Connor & Vogel (with Brian Tom O'Connor). Hailed by Cabaret Hotline Online as one of the "masters at her craft", whose shows regularly sell out, she offers a tonic to heartbreak while rejoicing in the unpredictability of love and life. A talented character actress, she engages audiences with her honesty, wit, and spark. Joining Ms. Vogel on her vocal romp is musical director Darryl Curry, providing sterling accompaniment and arrangements. Theater director Elfin Vogel, (co-founder of Block & Tackle Productions), endows the production with a clear eye to the emotional core of each song. And choreographer Nora Brown's musical staging keeps the show spirited and tight. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

CHICAGO: MONDAY NIGHT LIVE AT PETTERINO'S WITH DENISE & BECKIE

Monday Night Live, an impromptu showcase in a modern supper club setting, is hosted by Denise McGowan Tracy and Beckie Menzie on Mondays from 7:30 to 9:30 pm at PETTERINO'S (150 North Dearborn, Chicago, IL - 312-422-0150). Since the first evening in September of 2007, more than 700 singers have graced the Petterino's stage. Many of these have been talented amateurs, and just as many have been special guests from local and national theatrical productions. Past seasons have brought perfomers from the Lyric Operia, Porchlight Music Theatre, and many more from known productions such as Jersey Boys, Wicked, Sweeney Todd, Grease, and Dirty Dancing. Now in their 9th season, Denise and Beckie are back every Monday (mostly). They will probably sing a few songs and maybe tell a few stories. The format is always impromptu, and you never know quite what to expect. As always, audience members can dine on the extensive Petterino's menu, and avail themselves of the Monday Night Live special menu. There is no cover charge for the entertainment, just a $19.95 food and beverage minimum. $7.00 discounted valet parking is available after 7:00 pm. Reservations are strongly encouraged.
