Mama Alto's luscious voice and gender transcendence intoxicate and captivate in evocative interpretations of jazz standards from the American songbook. Fierce, femme and fabulous, Mama Alto been lauded in the press as 'divine', 'near flawless', and 'a knockout'. She has fascinated audiences with 'an idiosyncratic mix of statuesque fragility' from sold out salons at the Melbourne Recital Centre, award winning international appearances in Cuba with Finucane & Smith, and stellar performances for the Stonnington and Marysville jazz festivals. NYC: ERIC COMSTOCK SUBS FOR ANNIE ROSS AT THE METROPOLITAN ROOM

Eric Comstock fills the formidable pumps of Annie Ross for two nights only on Tuesdays, February 9th and February 16th - both shows at 9:30 pm. Eric will be bringing his encyclopedic knowledge of the pop & jazz songbooks to Metropolitan Room in these special late shows. He'll devote a segment to his late friend John Wallowitch, whose 90th birthday would be this month. An acknowledged champion of the American Songbook and one of the top performers of popular music working today, Eric Comstock is as entertaining as he is musically savvy, and his audiences feel they've been to a terrific party where the music and the stories have been equally great. Eric melds jazz and pop, whether at the piano leading a trio or quartet, or as a standup vocalist. With his enviable command of both pop and jazz repertoire, Eric performs and records with some of the world's finest jazz musicians, such as Andy Bey, Frank Wess, Houston Person, Peter Washington, Wycliffe Gordon, Matt Wilson, Ken Peplowski and Harry Allen. Eric is the co-creator and star of three critically acclaimed shows which tour coast to coast: Our Sinatra (1,300 performances Off-Broadway); Made for the Movies: A Hollywood Songbook, and Singing Astaire. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: GARY NEGBAUR AT LILY'S BAR AT THE ROGER SMITH HOTEL THURSDAYS

Pianist/ singer/ songwriter Gary Negbaur has taken up residency every Thursday night at LILY'S BAR at the ROGER SMITH HOTEL (501 Lexington Avenue, NYC - 212-755-1400). Gary has toured across the U.S., Europe and Australia. His concerts mix jazz, blues and New Orleans style R & B, combining his own tunes with standards. His recordings include original rock music (Let me explain), solo jazz standards (Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat) and children's songs (Max's Family Band). He's performed in large venues like the Superdome in New Orleans, storied jazz clubs like Birdland in New York and music festivals like South by Southwest in Austin. Abroad, the Gary Negbaur Group has performed at historic clubs like Le Bilboquet in Paris. Call for showtimes. There is no cover charge.



LONDON: NEW BARB JUNGR ALBUM OUT ON LINN RECORDS IN FEBRUARY

A new CD "Shelter From the Storm, Songs of Hope for Troubled Times" by Barb Jungr, featuring legendary American contemporary jazz pianist, and Grammy Award winner, Laurence Hobgood, is to be released by Linn Records on February 19th.
