SAN FRANCISCO, CA: FEINSTEIN'S PRESENTS MELISSA MANCHESTER

FEINSTEIN'S AT THE NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 866-663-1063) presents Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and actor, Melissa Manchester, for two performances only - on Friday, July 10th at 8:00 pm and Saturday, July 11th at 7:00 pm,.• Manchester will perform songs off her acclaimed new album, "You Gotta Love the Life," as well as some of her greatest hits. Manchester's career is remarkable not only for its longevity and accomplishments, but for its versatility. Following her stint as a founding member of Bette Midler's Harlettes, Manchester's tremendously successful solo career brought her critical and commercial acclaim. The "Midnight Blue" singer received her first Grammy nomination for Best Pop Female Vocal Performance in 1979 for the Peter Allen/ Carole Bayer Sager-penned "Don't Cry Out Loud," winning the Grammy in that category four years later for "You Should Hear How She Talks About You." Manchester has also had her songs recorded by Barbra Streisand, Roberta Flack, Dusty Springfield, Alison Krauss, Kenny Loggins and many others. Two songs she performed, "Through The Eyes Of Love" and "The Promise," were nominated for Oscars in the same year. She has written tunes for several other films including "The Great Mouse Detective," "Lady and the Tramp II," "Dirty Girl," and Tyler Perry's "For Colored Girls." She has appeared on both the large ("For The Boys") and small ("Blossom") screen, as well as the stage, including co-creating the Ovation-nominated ballroom dance extravaganza Fascinating Rhythms. With her 20th album, "You Gotta Love the Life," Melissa Manchester celebrates not only 40 years as a Grammy award-winning performer and songwriter, but also a renewed independence and vitality. There is a $60-$75 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.

Maria Diamond and Barry Lloyd appear in dual concert entitled "Excursions" at SOCIETY CABARET AT THE HOTEL REX (562 Sutter Street, San Francisco, CA 94102 - 800-982-2787 - ) on Friday, July 10th at 8:00 pm. The show promises an evening of "side trips in song" highlighting memories of their lives in years gone by. A diverse evening with some of their favorite material and a few duets.
