NYC: CABARET CARES DOES KANDER AND EBB ... OUR WAY

Cabaret Cares, the Award winning benefit series, returns to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Monday, March 23rd at 7:00 pm with "All That Jazz- An Evening Of Kander and Ebb ... Our Way." Performing will be Broadway & Cabaret's Michael Lewis Mejia, Sean Bernardi, Jamie Hartmann, Marina Colonna Beau Howard, Sly Young, Dave August, Skie Ocasio and Liz Mckendry. Cabaret Cares is the Monthly benefit series that raises funds for Help Is On The Way Today, a non for profit organization that helps and assists children,teens and youth living with HIV and AIDS. On this very special evening you will be hearing some of Kander and Ebb's biggest hits but with a twist, The Men performing will be singing the songs made famous by some of Broadways biggest DIVAS. While the ladies will be performing some of the most fabulous music ever sung by men on Broadway. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: MASON AT MAMA'S IN MARCH

Way back in 1982 DON'T TELL MAMA(343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) opened in the Manhattan Theater District on Restaurant Row. Two legendary cabaret stars opened the room - Karen Mason and the late Nancy LaMott. And now, 32 years later, Karon Mason returns for MARCH IS CABARET MONTH with her show MASON at MAMA'S in MARCH! Karen will perform every Sunday and Monday in March at 7:00 pm starting on Sunday & Monday, March 1st 7 2nd. Karen's new show features fresh arrangements of classics, new songs and music she and her longtime composer/ arranger Brian Lasser performed in the early days at Mama's. Musical Director is Christopher Denny and the show is directed by Barry Kleinbort. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: FAIRYTALE FACTS WITH LISA S. DONTZIN

Lisa S. Dontzin presents 'Fairytale Facts' at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE(61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438 - )on Monday, March 23rd at 7:00 pm. This piece is a result of an actual nightmare Ms. Dontzin had a little over a year ago. She was inspired by women's solo shows that came before her. The show is directed by Cookie Harlin, who Ms Dontzin claims her insight and creativity is only surpassed by her kindness and encouragement. The show will raise funds for "Friends In Deed" a charity founded in 1991 by Cynthia O'Neal and Mike Nichols. It is a crisis center for life-threatening illness. Andrew Nordin opens the show. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: FARM TO STAGE WITH ONE HEALING ARTS COMPANY

A concert of songs from composer/ lyricists teams from One Healing Arts Company's 2014 summer retreats will be presented at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE(407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Monday, March 23rd at 7:00 pm. The writers will give a first hand account of their work on the farm and the material will be performed by some of Broadway's best singers. There is a $25 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.

NYC: EMERSON SINGS! AT THE LAURIE BEECHMAN

'Emerson Sings!', the first cabaret to celebrate the work of up and coming musical theatre composers who are alumni of Emerson College, will be presented at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE(407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Monday, March 23rd at 9:30 pm. 'Emerson Sings!' will showcase a community of performers and songwriters making their mark in the theater industry, including the work of Blake Pfeil, Noel Carey, Gregory Jacobs-Roseman, Camille Harris, Nathan Chang and Garrett Bell. The compositions will be presented by some of Emerson's brightest alumni talent. There is a $10 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.

NYC: CHARLIE! ANYTHING BUT BASIC AT THE MET

Following a successful New York cabaret debut at THE DUPLEX, emerging cabaret artist Charlie Johnson brings his Brand New show 'Anything but Basic' to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Monday, March 23rd at 8:30 pm. Mr. Johnson's unique style pairs classic cabaret with a modern day sensibility in a wildly entertaining fashion. Through a mix of anecdotes, stand up, vaudeville, and songs from the American songbook, Mr. Johnson creates an evening that is anything but basic. There is a $10 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: TONY YAZBECK IN THE FLOOR ABOVE ME

The acclaimed star of this season's On the Town revival, perennial song and dance man Tony Yazbeck, heats up the stage with the return of his tour de force performance in The Floor Above Me, a thrilling evening of tenor melodies and tenacious tap dancing at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Mondays, March 16th and 23rd at 7:00 pm. The beloved Broadway vet - Gypsy (Tulsa), Little Me at Encores!, Chicago (Billy Flynn), Irving Berlin's White Christmas (Phil Davis), A Chorus Line (Al), Oklahoma!, Never Gonna Dance and NBC's "Smash" will be joined by fellow Broadway hoofer and On The Town co-star Clyde Alves and tap dance sensation Melinda Sullivan ("So You Think You Can Dance," "Glee"). In this not-to-be-missed evening, with tunes spanning from MGM to Coldplay, Tony will weave tales from his first Broadway gig at age 11 (as a Newsboy in Tyne Daly's Gypsy) to his recent turn as Tulsa in the Patti LuPone revival, as well as share anecdotes from the professional and personal journey that has established him as a stalwart New York song and dance man. Musical direction and arrangements by Jerome Korman, evening co-written and co-directed by Howard Emanuel & Tony Yazbeck. There is a $35-$75 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

NYC: DINE & DANCE WITH VINCE GIORDANO AND THE NIGHTHAWKS - NOW AT THE IGUANA

Vince Giordano & the Nighthawks are back - and now will play every Monday & Tuesday night from 8:00 to 11:00 pm at at IGUANA'S VIP LOUNGE (240 West 54th Street, NYC - 212-765-5454). Vince Giordano & the Nighthawks is an eleven-piece band playing music of the 1920s & 30s for your dining and dancing pleasure. In 1976 Vince Giordano & the Nighthawks (originally known as the New Orleans Nighthawks) was formed. A big-band historian and collector, Giordano has more than 60,000 scores in his collection. There is a $15 cover (at the door) plus a $15 food drink minimum.

NYC: ANIKA LARSEN FEATURING SPECIAL GUESTS JESSIE MUELLER & JARROD SPECTOR

The 2014 Tony Award nominee and Drama Desk Award winner currently starring on Broadway in Beautiful - The Carole King Musical, Anika Larsen, will introduce her debut solo CD 'Sing you to Sleep' with a special concert at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) as part of the "Broadway at Birdland" series on Monday, March 23rd at 7:00 pm. The songs are drawn from contemporary pop ( "Fields of Gold" by Sting), legendary singer/ songwriters ("Make You Feel My Love" from Bob Dylan), musical theater ("Summertime" from Porgy & Bess) and animated classics (An American Tail's "Somewhere Out There," with lyrics by Anika's Beautiful character Cynthia Weil). Special guests for the evening at Birdland are her 'Beautiful' co-stars: Tony Award winner Jessie Mueller and Tony Award nominee Jarrod Spector. Dan Watt serves as executive producer for the concert. Anika Larsen - who has also starred on Broadway in Rent, All Shook Up, Xanadu and Avenue Q - grew up in Cambridge, Massachusetts with nine brothers and sisters from different races and countries. She made her performance debut singing with her siblings at her parents' annual Christmas parties. Her mother thought they were the multi-cultural Von Trapps. After majoring in theater at Yale, Anika moved to New York City where her first professional job was Rent, during which she was given the nickname Shafrika. In addition to her Broadway credits, she also appeared in Disaster!; Unbroken Circle; Closer Than Ever; Miracle Brothers; Zanna, Don't!, and more. Anika is the only person on the planet who can say she was in the original casts of both Xanadu and Zanna, Don't! Anika co-founded Jaradoa Theater with director April Nickell in 2007. Their mission was to promote mercy, beauty and truth through performance and service. For four years they produced theater that strove to resonate, inspire and reach audiences that didn't usually have access to theater. The company presented shows in public middle schools, at-risk youth centers, teen alternative-to-incarceration programs, nursing homes, and homeless senior centers. In 2009, Jaradoa Theater produced Shafrika, The White Girl, a musical Anika wrote about her childhood. She and Orlando Bishop co-wrote "The Joneses," one-hour dramedy TV pilot loosely based on her personal story. Anika is currently writing a new play with her longtime writing partner April Nickell. There is a $25 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: JIM CARUSO'S "CAST PARTY" MONDAYS AT BIRDLANDFEATURED OPEN MIC EVENT

Every Monday night at 9:30 pm, Broadway impresario Jim Caruso hosts "Cast Party", a combination open-mic, networking event and party at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) during which the biggest stars on Broadway relax on their night off by performing their favorite songs in an informal setting. Cast Party is a mix of music, impromptu performance and cocktail party revelry, where showbiz superstars, stunning jazz talents and cabaret glitterati hit the stage alongside up-and-comers to serve up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle. It's the ultimate spot to mix and mingle with talented show folk and their fans. There is a $20 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.
