BOSTON: AARON GOLDBERG TRIO FEATURING REUBEN ROGERS & ERIC HARLAND

The Aaron Goldberg Trio performs at THE REGATTABAR at the Charles Hotel(1 Bennett Street, Cambridge, MA - 617-395-7757) on Saturday, February 21st with shows at 7:30 & 10:00 pm. Goldberg has made his name as one of jazz's most compelling pianists. On his new release, The Now, Goldberg reunites with bassist Reuben Rogers and drummer Eric Harland, the virtuoso rhythm team going all the way back to his 1998 debut Turning Point. On their fifth outing together, the trio foregrounds a central truth about the art of playing jazz: that no two performances will be the same because the music is created, in Goldberg's words, "in the dynamic plane of the present." There is a $25 cover.

BOSTON: STEVE OLIVER RELEASES NEW CD AT SCULLERS

Steve Oliver celebrates the release of his new CD ;Best of So Far' at SCULLERS JAZZ CLUB(400 Soldiers Field Road, Allston, MA - 617-562-4111) on Saturday, February 21st with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Playing sideman to Rick Braun, Larry Carlton, Gato Barbieri, the Neville Brothers, and many others introduced guitarist/ vocalist Steve Oliver to smooth jazz fans, but it was with Steve Reid's band that Oliver found a following. It was 1996 when Reid contacted Oliver at the last minute to fill in for a canceled opening act. Oliver hit the stage as a solo act and Reid was impressed with the guitarist's vocalese skills and summery sound. Oliver struck out on his own in 1999 with his debut First View, released by Night Vision. The album spawned three hit singles on smooth jazz radio and earned the guitarist a Debut Artist of the Year award from Smooth Jazz News. Steve Oliver's most recent release is 'Best Of so far'• which gathers multiple #1 Billboard hits and fan favorites including 2 brand new songs. Call for cover/minimum information.

TORONTO: ERNESTO CERVINI'S TURBOPROP AT THE JAZZ BISTRO

Cervini has energy to burn, whether radiating it from behind his kit or working on any number of musical and educational projects. On the heels of his 3rd album "There", recorded by his quartet live at the Cellar Jazz Club in Vancouver, BC, Cervini has added two more instruments to the fold to create the new sextet, Turboprop. The band features his regular quartet of Joel Frahm on Tenor Saxophone, Adrean Farrugia on Piano, Dan Loomis on Bass and Cervini on Drums, plus Tara Davidson on Alto Saxophone and William Carn on Trombone.
