NYC: SUNDAY JAZZ BRUNCH: JANIS SIEGEL: THE REQUINTE TRIO WITH NANNY ASSIS & JOHN DI MARTINO AT THE BLUE NOTE
The Requinte Trio Project will be sharing the fusion of American Jazz and Brazilian music, forming a "creative combustion" of music, at THE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) on Sunday, January 4th at 11:30 am. The Requinte Trio (Janis Siegel, Nanny Assis & John Di Martino) are fusing the talents and musical colors of American and Brazilian artists through their common love of lyrical melodies and delicious grooves; creating sensual music with a broad range of influences - a musical "cocktail" of sorts. They intend to delve more deeply into the beautiful rhythms of Brazil. Through this project, they will be challenging and pushing each other out of their respective comfort zones. As the project develops, the trio will be documenting the creative process, sharing their rehearsals and insights. There is a $35 cover. **Price includes brunch, music and a drink.**

TORONTO: SUNDAY BRUNCH WITH THE ADRIAANSE-STANLEY DUO

The Adriaanse-Stanley Duo performs at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Sunday, January 4th at 12:00 pm as part of the club's Sunday Brunch Series. The duo has been developing their exceptional rapport since meeting while attending York University over 4 years ago. Their musical focus is on the interpretation of the Great American Songbook with attention not so much to the expression of jazz language but to the nuances of form and dynamics. Chris Adriaanse is a young electric and upright bassist and educator based in Toronto. He appears as a member of a number of groups, and as a freelance musician, open to play in just about any situation. He can be heard on records by Lullaby North and Shaky Knees, and can be seen performing with the Adriaanse-Stanley Duo, the Doug Tielli Band, the Jon Foster Group, the Happy Pals and countless groups of jazz musicians and free improvisers in small performance and private event contexts. Music has taken him on adventures to Europe, across Canada, and Ecuador, let him perform with the TSO, other small orchestras, CCMC and some of Toronto's finest musicians. He dabbles in composing for small jazz ensembles, and his compositions can occasionally be heard at performances. Liam Stanley is a young jazz guitarist from Toronto, Ontario. Liam has been playing guitar for over a decade, having studied jazz with Humber alumni Tristan Clark, and York professors Roy Patterson and Lorne Lofsky. Liam is currently in his sixth year at York University. While at York Liam has had the privilege of studying with Kevin Turcotte, Kelly Jefferson and Barry Elmes. Following his third and fifth years at York Liam was nominated for the Mary Alice Stuart/JAZZ .FM91 Scholarship. Liam has been heard numerous times on JazzFM 91.1's Jazzology and will be featured in 2014. In October of 2011 Liam performed Tim Brady's Twenty Quarter Inch Jacks during the X Avant Festival in Toronto in a 20 guitar ensemble alongside Ted Quinlan and Roy Patterson. In the summer of 2012 Liam performed with his trio at the Brantford Jazz Festival, and followed it up in 2013 and 2014 with performances at the TD Toronto Jazz Festival with the Jon Foster Group. There is a $5 cover.
