Manolo Mairena, a native of Costa Rica and now a New England based vocalist and percussionist, brings his latest project to the R-Bar with fresh energy and new compositions from his first CD, Mi Oportunidad. Mairena has had a bead on the pulse of the Boston music scene for a very long time, having played regularly with groups La Clave Secreta, Mango Blue, Cinco Son and Balaton. Returning to the Regattabar with his own group, Curubande, Mairena creates a performance to move his audience to dance with an infusion of latin rhythms from a Son Montuno, Bolero, and Salsa to contemporary Cuban music which brings all to the dance floor with just the right swing!
