DC: BOWIE STATE JAZZ ENSEMBLE & NORTHERN VIRGINIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE JAZZ BAND AT BLUES ALLEY
BLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141 - ) presents two student bands in one night on Monday, April 1st. At 8:00 pm, they present the BSU jazz band, a select group of approximately 20 musicians who make up a fully instrumented "big band." Emphasis is placed on the study of diverse jazz styles and literature, ensemble performance, and improvisation. At 10:00 pm, the featured group is the Northern Virginia Community College Jazz Band, a 20+ member group that performs classic and original big band works from the 1930s until today. Students meet once a week as a class near the Alexandria Campus and perform at events on and off campus. Call for cover/minimum information.
