CELEBRATING MARCH IS CABARET MONTH
Singer Jaye Maynard pays homage to the wised-up babydoll jazz stylings of the late Blossom Dearie at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Thursday, March 21st at 9:30 pm, with Jon Delfin and Leon Lee Dorsey accompanying her. Additional Direction: Mary O'Brady. Maynard interprets "The First Blossom Dearie Songbook" containing songs written for and by her with Bob Dorough, Johnny Mercer, Dave Frishberg and of course, Dearie herself. The show had it's NYC cabaret venue debut at The Laurie Beechman Theater last fall and recently played Sterling's Upstairs at The Federal in North Hollywood/Los Angeles. For several selections, Jon Delfin (music director) accompanies Maynard on Blossom's last apartment piano, which she won on Ebay after Dearie bequeathed it to the Manhattan Association of Cabarets.
