TODAY IN NYC: SOUL KITCHEN, A MUSICAL, AT JOE'S PUB (tonight only)
"Soul Kitchen", an original musical by Michael Doane will be presented in concert at JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) for one night only, on Monday, August 16th at 7:30 pm. Michael Doane's career achievements include performing, directing and producing, both on and off Broadway, as well as part of international touring companies. His songwriting has brought him notable attention, most recently as a 2008 Top-25 Finalist in the American Idol Song-Writers' Competition (30,000 submissions). "Soul Kitchen" tells the story of a soon-to-be sold Bronx diner and its spicy staff who, on their last day together, learn the truth about each other's dreams and the true meaning of family. The show features a 5-piece band and company of 8 singers including Loni Ackerman (veteran Broadway star) and Jim Brochu (currently staring Off-Broadway). Call for cover/minimum information.
