THINK LIKE A SONGWRITER - CLASS IN SINGING TECHNIQUE

THINK LIKE A SONGWRITER - CLASS IN SINGING TECHNIQUE

"Think Like A Songwriter" will be presented on Saturday, May 22nd from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at SHETLER STUDIOS (244 West 54th Street, NYC). This course will focus on songs of love, war and big social changes, songs written and recorded by American Singer/Songwriters in the exciting 1960s-70s and will attempt to answer such questions as "How do Singer/Songwriters create personal songs about their own lives?" and "How do singers make those songs feel personal in their own performances?" Heather Petruzelli, a classically trained singer specializing in teaching musical theater and classical students, will offer basic vocal techniques to help find your authentic singing voice through breath connection to sound, exploring head voice and chest voice, and centering exercises. Annie Dinerman, an award-winning Singer/Songwriter, will illustrate some basic principles of songwriting, giving you a deeper understanding of how to interpret popular songs as vehicles for your personal truth. Singers who are not songwriters are welcome to this course. If you play guitar, please bring it. No knowledge of reading music required. $75 Class fee, payable through PayPal. Admission limited to 12 participants. To reserve your place right away, emailmail@anniedinerman.com and write "THINK LIKE A SONGWRITER" in the subject line.
