LONDON: JON REGEN MAKES HIS CRAZY COQS DEBUT

Singer, songwriter and pianist Jon Regen makes his debut at THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) on Tuesday through Saturday, January 12th through 16th at 8:00 pm. Jon will bring his new album Stop Time, produced by Mitchell Froom (Crowded House, Paul McCartney), and featuring Davey Faragher and Pete Thomas from Elvis Costello and the Imposters. Stop Time finds Regen at the peak of his songwriting and pianistic powers, with ten original tunes that brim with humor and heart. Songs like "I Will Wait," "Morning Papers" and "Stop Time" prove Regen a master of the sticky lyric and the penetrating piano hook, recalling the work of forebears like Billy Joel and Randy Newman while simultaneously showcasing Regen's singular take on modern love. A protege of the legendary pianist Kenny Barron, Jon Regen began his career as a sympathetic sideman to jazz artists like Kyle Eastwood and Little Jimmy Scott. After releasing a series of instrumental jazz recordings, Regen made an abrupt left turn in 2004 and released the singer/songwriter EP Almost Home. Recorded in a single day, the album won immediate acclaim and formally announced Regen's arrival onto the worldwide concert stage. Regen followed the EP with his full-length 2008 release Let It Go, which featured Andy Summers of the Police and Martha Wainwright. Regen returned in 2011 with his album Revolution, featuring contributions from Andy Summers, Benmont Tench from Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty. The album received rave reviews the world over. Regen also hit Number One on the Billboard Charts with his 2013 instrumental album Change Your Mind. Call for reservations and cover/minimum information.

In 2010, the entertainment world celebrated the 100th birthday of composer Frank Loesser, who had died 41 years before at age 59. In the New York cabaret world, nobody honored the legacy of Frank Loesser better than singer Karen Oberlin, who in June of 2010 staged a run of critically acclaimed shows at the famed Algonquin Hotel Oak Room. Oberlin's show Heart & Soul: The Songs of Frank Loesser received a MAC Award nomination for Best Major Artist and the Live CD of the show earned her the MAC Lamott-Friedman Award. Now Stephen Hanks' Cabaret Life Productions and Associate Producer Fr. Jeffrey Hamblin, MD are bringing back Karen Oberlin's Frank Loesser Tribute Show (with original Musical Director Jon Weber and bass player Sean Smith) as the first 2016 installment of his "New York Cabaret's Greatest Hits" series at the Metropolitan Room.

NYC: KAREN OBERLIN: HEART & SOUL: THE SONGS OF FRANK LOESSER

In 2010, the entertainment world celebrated the 100th birthday of composer Frank Loesser, who had died 41 years before at age 59. Loesser had achieved American songwriter immortality for writing the scores to classic Broadway musicals such as Guys & Dolls and How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, as well as the score to the film Hans Christian Anderson, which starred Danny Kaye.
