NYC: "WATER FROM THE MOON" - ROCK MUSICAL AT URBAN STAGES

"Water From The Moon", a rock musical following a Grammy Award winning rock band from tech rehearsal to a Hollywood Bowl concert, will be presented at URBAN STAGES (259 West 30th Street, NYC - 866-811-4111) opened on Wednesday, January 6th and running Wednesdays through Sundays through January 17th. Showtimes are 7:00 pm, Wednesday through Friday; 2:00 & 7:00 pm on Saturdays; and 2:00 pm on Sundays. WATER FROM THE MOON is written by award winning Broadway and cabaret veteran Rosemary Loar and her husband Robert W. Atwood. In 2011. The Manhattan Musical Theatre Lab launched their musical Spoolie Girl, which was nominated for 11 "Best of the Fest" awards at the 2012 Midtown International Theatre Festival, including winner of the award for "Outstanding Music and Lyrics" and a nomination for "Best Production of a Musical." It is directed by Lisa Milinazzo, with music direction by John DiPinto and features Rosemary Loar, Rich Hebert (Les Miserables), Raissa Katona Bennett (Phantom Of The Opera) and Alicia Irving (Les Miserables), Andrea Dotto, Emily Briggs and Sadie Gracelynn Trigg. As the day unfolds Wildberry is confronted by a decision she must make. Will she say goodbye and make peace with her dying father? It is a heartwarming story of reconciliation between an Irish American daughter and her hard headed father; heartbreaking and absurdly humorous. Sometimes the only way to drown out your father's voice is to find your own. Reserve through Brown Paper Tickets at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2471372

NYC: KAREN OBERLIN: HEART & SOUL: THE SONGS OF FRANK LOESSER

Karen Oberlin reprises her acclaimed show "Heart & Soul: The Songs Of Frank Loesser" at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Wednesday, January 13th at 7:00 pm. In 2010, the entertainment world celebrated the 100th birthday of composer Frank Loesser, who had died 41 years before at age 59. Loesser had achieved American songwriter immortality for writing the scores to classic Broadway musicals such as Guys & Dolls and How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, as well as the score to the film Hans Christian Anderson, which starred Danny Kaye. In the New York cabaret world, nobody honored the legacy of Frank Loesser better than singer Karen Oberlin, who in June of 2010 staged a run of critically acclaimed shows at the famed Algonquin Hotel Oak Room. Oberlin's show Heart & Soul: The Songs of Frank Loesser received a MAC Award nomination for Best Major Artist and the Live CD of the show earned her the MAC Lamott-Friedman Award. Now Stephen Hanks' Cabaret Life Productions and Associate Producer Fr. Jeffrey Hamblin, MD are bringing back Karen Oberlin's Frank Loesser Tribute Show (with original Musical Director Jon Weber and bass player Sean Smith) as the first 2016 installment of his "New York Cabaret's Greatest Hits" series at the Metropolitan Room. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
