NYC: LONDON: NICHOLA MCAULIFFE AND STEFAN BEDNARCZYK AT THE CRAZY COQS

Nichola McAuliffe makes her debut at THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) with Stefan Bednarczyk in their amusing and highly entertaining show The Unpronounceables in Parallel Lives on Tuesday through Thursday, September 29th through October 1st at 8:00 pm. Since meeting in the corridor of a disused mortuary, Stefan Bednarczyk and Nichola McAuliffe - the Unpronounceables of the title - have remained friends and occasional work companions. While Stefan has done everything from becoming Master of Music at St Patrick's Soho Square to playing Tennessee Williams (above a bar in Edinburgh) Nichola has dabbled with West End musicals, some triumphant and one so much of a disaster that she wrote a successful novel about it. She has played characters as diverse as The Duchess of Windsor and Prince Felix Yusupov, to Bryony Lavery's Goliath and Wesker's Annie Wobbler - via Bennett's Lady In The Van. Over the thirty years of their friendship they've laughed, cried and sung together about everything from men to leaking roofs. This evening of cabaret will include songs from shows they have performed in, as well as original Bednarczyk numbers written for satirical news shows and songs by other giants of the cabaret circuit, like Dillie Keene. All interwoven with anecdotes that spare neither blushes nor reputations. An Olivier Award Best Actress, Nichola achieved fame for her starring role in the very popular TV comedy Surgical Spirit, and for appearing in Coronation Street as a love interest of Ken Barlow. She has appeared in numerous West End shows and on TV and has also had success as a writer. Bednarczyk is an actor, musical director and cabaret performer. His extensive credits as musical director include shows at the National Theatre, the Barbican, the Almeida, Hampstead and Open Air Theatre, Regent's Park. As a solo cabaret performer he has enjoyed seasons in London, New York and many major European cities. He has also performed two sell-out runs at Crazy Coqs with the actress Anne Reid in their Comden and Green show Just In Time. Call for cover/minimum information.

LYNN HENDERSON'S "IF WE ONLY HAVE LOVE" CD AVAILABLENOW ON CD BABY!

Lynn Henderson's memories as a singer date back to grade school when she wore out a recording of "It's Magic" singing along with Doris Day. Throughout her life, singing has been her passion. From big band vocalist to saloon singer to Handel soloist to cabaret singer, it has all been a joy! The chapters of her life from single New Yorker to wife, mom, equestrienne, businesswoman, divorcee and world traveler all contribute to her selection of songs that speak to me. Life has given Lynn a finer appreciation of great songs and a deeper understanding of what the extraordinary musical poets are telling us. Welcome to Lynn's world!

Lynn's new CD, titled "If We Only Have Love", was released on September 15, 2014. Since enjoying these songs with her audiences and wonderful musicians over the last couple of years at the Metropolitan Room in New York City and all over CT., Lynn has been encouraged to share them with a larger audience.

SPECIAL FESTIVAL EVENTS IN NOVEMBER IN NYC: MITF STARTS NEW FALL FESTIVAL! - AS ADVERTISED IN CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE

SPECIAL FESTIVAL EVENTS IN NOVEMBER IN NYC: MITF STARTS NEW FALL FESTIVAL! - AS ADVERTISED IN CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE

The Midtown International Theatre Festival (MITF) has started a new festival - in November! MITF: FALL combines some of the most popular features of other MITF festivals: short plays and musicals, a Variety division, the Short Play Lab, and staged readings. Short plays and musicals are the mainstay of the MITF Short Subjects (part of the larger MITF, in July) and the Midwinter Madness Short Play Festival. They are looking for any kind of short play or musical that fits the following guidelines:

* 30 - 60 min. long
* Easy to produce in a no-frills festival
* Any genre. (Plays using guns as props will not be considered).
* Plays must be sent in Word Document or PDF File. Pages MUST be numbered and script must be in standard playscript format.*(see below)

The Festival will take place at the Workshop Theater's JEWELBOX THEATER (312 West 36th Street, NYC). Short plays and musicals receive 3 performances, all in the same week. Producers receive a share of the profits, if any. Shows receive a tech rehearsal equal to 2.5 times the running time of the show.

The Variety division spans cabaret, magic, improv, sketch comedy, standup, and burlesque. Acts can be solo or group affairs, so long as they fit within an hour, including setup and strike, and so long as they bring their own musical director and so forth. The Festival provides a keyboard and amp. Shows receive a 1-hour tech rehearsal and a share of the profits, if any.

The Short Play Lab is just like the regular Short Play Labs throughout the year: 2 programs of about 10 short plays each (not to exceed 10 min. in length), each program performed twice. The Festival takes the door; 2 cash prizes are awarded to the most popular shows, 1 from each program. Each show receives no more than 20 min. of tech rehearsal.

For all shows, the Festival provides a theatre (the WorkShop Theater JewelBox), shared scenery (rehearsal cubes, a table, and 4 chairs), front-of-house staff, a board op (NOT a lighting designer), and a keyboard plus amp if necessary. Shows must be fully produced (off book!).

In addition to the fully produced shows, there will also be staged readings on weekday afternoons. Producers wishing to present a staged reading must make sure their reading doesn't exceed 3 hours and must pay a $100 fee. The Festival doesn't provide a board op or any technical rehearsal to speak of.

To submit a project, mark it clearly "MITF AutumnFest," and let them know whether it is a short play or musical, a variety act, a 10-min. play, or a staged reading. MITF will curate the entries as they come in, so you can start working on them as soon as possible. Please send all playscripts and all Variety submissions (video reels, youtube, etc.), to: john.chatterton@gmail.com

Submission Deadline For Short Subjects Is October 15th.
Submission Deadline For Short Play Lab and Variety Is October 22nd.

     *PLAY SCRIPT FORMAT: 12 pt Times Roman; character names in the middle on their own line; line spaces between speeches and stage directions; indented stage directions; 1" margins all around.

NYC: LYNN HENDERSON'S "IF WE ONLY HAVE LOVE" CD AVAILABLE

NYC: MITF STARTS NEW FALL FESTIVAL!

* 30 - 60 min. long
* Easy to produce in a no-frills festival

A few of her favorite professional theater credits include Janis Joplin in Beehive, Louise Segar in Always Patsy Cline, Domina in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, the Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, the lead role of the therapist in the premiere of Mother Me Therapy at the Cherry Lane Theatre in New York, and the Queen Mother in the European premiere of Rumpelstiltskin's Daughter at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. Equally at home as a teacher, Gretchen maintains a private voice studio in New York and is also available for master classes. She is managed by RNM Representation.
