NYC: MERMAN ON BROADWAY AT THE METROPOLITAN
MEMBER DISCOUNT $10 OFF THE COVER

Dominic Mattos uses his unique vocal range - spanning some four octaves - in his show "Merman on Broadway" at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Friday, July 29th at 7:00 pm. Mattos is a 26 year old, mild-mannered Englishman, with a degree in Theology from Oxford University. Somewhere along the way Broadway's greatest ever star, not content with merely having dominated the Broadway stage for forty years, entered Dominic's subconscious, and his larynx-largely uninvited. Dominic Mattos' Merman on Broadway is in part a meticulous recreation of Ethel Merman's Las Vegas Club Act, including Merman's famous 'medley'. Dominic, a male soprano also at home with Purcell and Handel, sings all of Merman's hits (Everything's Coming Up Roses, There's No Business Like Showbusiness, They Say That Falling in Love is Wonderful) in her trademark belting style as well as covering Merman's lesser-known material (such as 'World Take Me Back' - from Merman's run in Hello, Dolly!). Dominic aims for 'Mermanesque' rather than a direct imitation of Merman - to evoke Merman's spirit, her wicked sense of humor and no-nonsense approach, and to present her unforgettable music with the same care for the lyrics being heard that Merman had herself. More than that the show is about the joy of good music, sung honestly. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum. $10 discount for members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE
