NYC: MAUREEN TAYLOR - TAYLOR MADE: BOB MERRILL - JULY 13th
In 2009 and 2010, opera singer turned cabaret performer Maureen Taylor staged a cabaret show tribute to Bob Merrill's music and critics raved. Six years later, on Wednesday, July 13th at 7:00 pm, Maureen Taylor will reprise her highly praised show, TAYLOR MADE: BOB MERRILL at THE METRO-POLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440). Taylor's Musical Director is Matt Castle on piano, with Joe Brent on guitar, mandolin, and violin. Her special guest performer is two-time MAC Award winner Rev. Yolanda (Roger Anthony Yolanda Mapes). Composer and lyricist Bob Merrill might not have had the name recognition of songwriters such as Jule Styne, Lerner & Lowe, or Rodgers & Hammerstein, but he wrote songs for some of the classic musicals of the 1960s•such as Carnival!, Hello Dolly! Funny Girl, and Breakfast at Tiffany's. Merrill, a Tony Award, Academy Award, and Golden Globe nominee was also responsible for composing pop hits for singers such as Patti Page ("How Much Is That Doggie in the Window?"), Jimmie Rodgers ("Honeycomb"), Rosemary Clooney ("Mambo Italiano"), and Jane Morgan ("Love Makes The World Go 'Round"). In addition to cabaret shows in New York, Maureen Taylor has performed as an opera singer with the Chicago Lyric Opera, the Chicago Symphony, and Chamber Opera of Chicago, as well as with opera companies in Philadelphia and West Palm Beach. Taylor has also performed musical theater with international and regional theater companies from New York to London to Switzerland. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: CELIA BERK'S MANHATTAN SERENADE HELD OVER FOR FOUR ADDITIONAL SHOWS - NEXT SHOW JULY 13th
2015 Bistro, MAC and Margaret Whiting Award Winner Celia Berk continues her show 'Manhattan Serenade', based on her new CD, at THE METRO-POLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) through October 2016. Manhattan Serenade returns Wednesday, July 13 at 9:30 pm; Wednesday August 3rd at 7:00 pm; and Friday, October 14th at 7:00 pm. Manhattan Serenade was released on April 1, 2016, and was followed by four Sunday performances at the Metropolitan Room. It is directed by Jeff Harnar with musical direction by Alex Rybeck. The album follows Celia Berk's critically acclaimed debut 'You Can't Rush Spring'. It is Co-Produced by Tony Award-winning sound designer Scott Lehrer and renowned arranger and musical director Alex Rybeck. Nominated for the 2015 LaMott Friedman Award for Best Recording, Celia Berk's debut album You Can't Rush Spring appeared on a number of Best of 2014 lists and has found a global audience, with airplay and sales extending across the US and into Europe, Japan, Australia and Canada. Celia has made memorable appearances at Jazz at Lincoln Center and The Town Hall as part of the Mabel Mercer Foundation's annual Cabaret Convention and will appear again in October 2016 in an evening devoted to Stephen Sondheim.
