LONDON: WILLIAM LUDWIG AND DEAN AUSTIN - DARK SOUL

William Ludwig and Dean Austin present 'Dark Soul' at THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL(20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) on Monday, April 25th, at 8:00 pm. They tell the story of tango and its beginnings in the workers' districts of Buenos Aires. This is also a story of immigration. The narration follows a young man from Italy, who is enticed to Argentina to start a new life at the end of the 19th century. 'Dark Soul' takes you through the days of loneliness in a city of men and tells this story through the tango songs of Astor Piazzolla, Jacques Brel, Kurt Weill and others. These are songs of a dark world, early dawn apocalyptic nightmares of Buenos Aires and cities of men but always in between there is a moment of desire and promise. William Ludwig is an accomplished performer on stage and in film. William's concert and cabaret projects have taken him to prestigious venues throughout Europe, including the Gewandhaus in Leipzig and the Munich Philharmonie. Together with Dean Austin he toured Germany with a highly-acclaimed evening of the songs of Kurt Weill, Youkali. London's Vortex hosted an evening of Berlin Cabaret Songs and Ports Of Call, a programme of German and French cabaret songs, took him to the Grec Festival in Barcelona, a sold-out run at the Edinburgh Festival and London's Drill Hall. Dean Austin trained at the University of Hull, gaining a BMus(Hons). As Musical Director, he has worked in the West End, national & international tours, regional and fringe theatre, TV, drama schools and numerous pantomimes and workshops of new musicals, working with composers from here and abroad. Call for reservations and cover/minimum information.
