NYC: BOSSABRASIL FESTIVAL - DIRECT FROM RIO!
Launched in 2007, the annual BOSSABRASIL Festival brings together top Brazilian artists for a celebration of Bossa Nova and other musical sounds from Brazil. At BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) Tuesday through Saturday, May 17th through 21st the BOSSABRASIL Festival - Direct From Rio, featuring Marcos Valle (composer, keyboards, vocals) and Wanda Sa (guitar, vocals) with Patricia Alvi (vocals) Jesse Sadoc (trumpet) Sergio Brandau (bass), Renato "Massa" Calmon (drums) will perform, 2 shows a night at 8:30 & 11:00 pm. For over 50 years Bossa Nova has seduced musicians and listeners with its innate sensuality, melding samba with jazz sensibilities. Festival producers Pat Philips and Ettore Stratta, have produced hit Brazilian music concerts in venues from Rio to New York City. This year they are presenting the very talented composer/keyboardist/vocalist Marcos Valle and guitarist and vocalist Wanda Sa in their first engagement together in the US. There is a $30-$40 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.
