I am sure you have noticed my frequent mentions of THE BUTTERFLY CLUB in Melbourne, AUS in the newsletters. Well, first off, they are the only Australian cabaret room to send me detailed monthly schedules. But secondly, nearly all of the shows presented there are so eclectic and original, I just enjoy adding them to the newsletter each issue. To quote from their mailings: "While we welcome all forms of cabaret, we favor those that reflect the style of performance for which cabaret was originally created - shows that satirize or reflect contemporary life and enlighten audiences, presented in an intimate environment." A far cry from the "cookie-cutter" shows we so often see here in NYC!
I bring this up because you will have a chance to see first hand, here in NYC, the type of show presented at THE BUTTERFLY on Tuesday, December 22nd at THE DUPLEX when 2009 Under Our Wing award winner Tom Dickens brings his acclaimed show "Where Was I?" to town. I've got my seats reserved and I hope a lot of you take this chance to catch one of the best from Australia.

NYC: TIM DICKENS BRINGS AUSTRALIAN HIT SHOW TO THE DUPLEX
---------------
After a knockout headline season at the 2009 Melbourne Fringe Festival, and two sold-out runs at Melbourne's famed BUTTERFLY CLUB, 2009 Under Our Wing award winner Tom Dickins brings his acclaimed show "Where Was I?" to LA, San Francisco, Seattle, New York and Boston. The New York show will be on one night only at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 1-212-255-5438) on Tuesday, December 22nd at 7:00 pm. In his semi-autobiographical, fully fantastical cabaret, "Where Was I?" Tom Dickins runs, stumbles and stalls on a scattered trip around the world, in search of answers to the question: "Are you running away from something - or toward it?" Tom runs to and from love, identity, sex, debt, the South Korean National Male Cheerleading Squad and a myriad of mad travelers, accompanied by travelling companion, anima, and 'ravishing redhead' Jennifer Kingwell on piano. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
