Artists in Partnership Presents 11th Annual Cabaret Festival honoring the Great American Songbook in Long Island, NY Friday through Sunday, May 17th through May 19th at THE LONG BEACH PUBLIC LIBRARY (111 West Park Avenue, Long Beach, NY - 516-432-6342 - http://www.aip-arts.org/ ). All performances are FREE to the public. The festival will feature performances by renowned local and New York City-based artists.

2:00 pm - FABULOUS JAZZ featuring Marilyn Maye performs with pianist Tedd Firth; Stephanie Nakasian performs with Hod O'Brien on piano and guest artist Veronica O'Brien.

This event is made possible with public funds from the Long Beach Public Library and a special Burst Grant from NY State Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg. The library is handicapped accessible, located two blocks from the LIRR station in Long Beach, a 50-minute train ride from New York City's Penn Station.

Artists in Partnership, Inc. is a 501c3 cultural arts organization located in Long Beach, NY. Help Is On The Way Today, a 501c3 non-profit that assists children and youth living with HIV/AIDS, will hold their annual Gala on May 19th at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909). The May 19th Gala will include a cocktail hour at 5:00 pm, with unlimited wine, beer, soda and special Gala cocktails, followed by a buffet dinner and dessert at 6:00 pm, a live auction with glamorous fashion, entertainment and travel items, and a show featuring Eric Michael Gillett, Stacy Sullivan, Gretchen Reinhagen, Alison Nusbaum, Hedda Lettuce and more performers to be announced. Jay Rogers and Carolyn Montgomery will Co-Host. At the show, the 2013 Cabaret Cares Ruth Kurtzman Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Peter Leavy, the publisher of Cabaret Scenes magazine. OAKLAND: AMANDA KING OPENS AT NEW VENUE: THE SOUND ROOM

Amanda King makes her Oakland, CA debut at a new venue, THE SOUND ROOM (2147 Broadway, Oakland, CA - 415-994-3501) on Saturday, May 18th at 8:00 pm. She has invited Erica Roman to join her for the second set. Erica is a singer/songwriter whose jazz vocal stylings blend classic tunes with modern inflection. Amanda King is a classic chanteuse who performs little known gems from the 1930s and 40s, as well as jazz standards and popular songs from the Great American Songbook. Combining the best of the jazz and cabaret worlds by focusing on the words, the music, and the swing, Amanda masterfully interprets the music she adores. In the last three years Amanda has appeared at venues throughout San Francisco and the greater Bay Area including, the Empire Plush Room, Jazz at Pearl's, Bliss Bar and the Herbst Theater. She also appeared at the Fillmore Jazz Festival, the North Beach Festival, and the Castro Street Festival where she became an instant hit. In December of 2008 Amanda performed with the prestigious San Francisco Chamber Orchestra singing Gershwin songs arranged for the orchestra by Bay Area jazz icon Jeff Neighbor, Amanda's regular bassist. The Sound Room is the home of Bay Area Jazz and Arts, Inc (BAJA). BAJA is a nonprofit organization that nurtures music, art, and creative ventures through live performance and educational programs.

Audra McDonald, the five-time Tony Award winner and recent star of Porgy and Bess on Broadway and TV's Private Practice, makes her New Orleans debut with two shows only on Saturday, May 18th at 7:30 & 9:30pm at LUPIN HALL AT NOCCA (2800 Chartres Street, New Orleans, LA -800-838-3006). The series, which previously featured Patti LuPone, Sutton Foster and Megan Mullally, is produced by Mark Cortale, long time producer/manager of Jeffery Roberson aka Varla Jean Merman, and is hosted by Sirius/XM radio star Seth Rudetsky at the piano. The series is sponsored exclusively by the New Orleans Hotel Collection and Gambit. Audra McDonald became a three-time Tony Award winner by the age of 28 for her performances in Carousel, Master Class, and Ragtime, placing her alongside Shirley Booth, Gwen Verdon and Zero Mostel by accomplishing this feat within five years. She won her fourth in 2004 for her role in A Raisin in the Sun, a role she reprised for a 2008 television adaptation, earning her a second Emmy Award nomination. Latin Jazz Legend Arturo Sandoval will perform at BLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) Thursday through Sunday, May 16th through 19th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Granted political asylum in July 1990 and US citizenship in 1999, Sandoval and his family now call Miami, Florida home. A protege of the legendary jazz master Dizzy Gillespie, Sandoval was born in Artemisa, a small town in the outskirts of Havana, Cuba, on November 6, 1949, just two years after Gillespie became the first musician to bring Latin influences into American Jazz. Sandoval began studying classical trumpet at the age of twelve, but it didn't take him long to catch the excitement of the jazz world. He has since evolved into one of the World's most acknowledged guardians of jazz trumpet and flugel horn, as well as a renowned classical artist, pianist and composer. Over the course of a stellar career that has spanned more than 30 years, saxophonist Kenny Garrett has become the preeminent alto saxophonist of his generation. From his first gig with the Duke Ellington Orchestra (led by Mercer Ellington) through his time spent with musicians such as Freddie Hubbard, Woody Shaw, Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers and Miles Davis, Garrett has always brought a vigorous yet melodic, and truly distinctive, alto saxophone sound to each musical situation. As a bandleader for the last two decades, he has also continually grown as a composer. With his latest recording (and second for Mack Avenue Records), Seeds From The Underground, Garrett has given notice that these qualities have not only become more impressive, but have provided him with the platform to expand his horizons and communicate his musical vision clearly. Seeds From The Underground is a powerful return to the straight-ahead, acoustic and propulsive quartet format that showcases Garrett's extraordinary abilities. Will Calhoun has this creative vision, and he is doing an extraordinary job keeping music a spiritual and motivating force in his life. In addition to his work with landmark fusion rock band Living Colour, Calhoun has recorded and/or performed with a diverse array of artists, including B.B.
