GOOD NEWS FOR METROPOLITAN ROOM FANS ON HALLOWEEN

Good news for all THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 - / ) fans - this year's NYC HALLOWEEN PARADE in Greenwich Village will be a little shorter this year and won't impact this Chelsea hotspot as in previous years. The route on Sunday night, October 31st, is now five blocks shorter because of the NYPD's new rule requiring all city parades to cut down their routes by 25 percent or be limited to five hours. So the route up Sixth Avenue ends at 16th Street, not 23rd Street. The cutbacks on parades are expected to save the police department $3 million a year in overtime pay for extra officers.

As part three of the Halloween celebration at THE BUTTERFLY CLUB (204 Bank Street, South Melbourne, VIC - 03 96902000 - ) is ATROCITY, a unique ingenious character comedy, presented on Friday & Saturday, October 29th & 30th at 10:30 pm. Based on the famed Theatre du Grand Guignol of old, ATROCITY is a contemporary journey into the dark mind of man - a cacophony of mayhem and madness, sex and violence, song and dance, cabaret and burlesque that is not for the faint of heart. Espousing the creed 'Beauty, Truth, Horror,' it is a theatrical experience like no other. The show is performed by Stevl Shefn and his Translator Fatima, and created by 2003 Raw Comedy winner Steve Sheehan. Two new original clowns: one all color and movement, a downtrodden everyman in the tradition of Borat and the Marx Bros; the other a colorless translator, unknown but for her expressive eyes and assured translation. Marcus has assembled a powerful set filled with emotional highs and humorous moments in his most risky show to date. He will be appearing on Fridays, October 29th & November 12th at 7:00 pm; Sunday, November 21st at 9:30 pm, and Saturdays, December 4th & 11th at 9:30. With this new show, Marcus will bring highlights from his new album ("Haunted") which features many of today's contemporary songwriters accompanying him on their own songs, such as John Bucchino, Tracy Stark, Heather Sullivan, etc., backed by some of today's most acclaimed musicians. The album is scheduled to be released in December with a special event at the last show on Saturday, December 11th. This latest show will also celebrate a decade working in the clubs of New York since his auspicious debut at Don't Tell Mama. "Doo Wop 1949-1965: Nostalgia" will be presented on Thursday, October 28th at 8:00 pm at KRANZBERG ART CENTER STUDIO THEATRE (501 North Grand Street, St. Louis, MO - 314-795-8778). A branch of the R&B tree, Doo Wop and its beautiful harmonies became mainstream in the 50's and 60's. Flint Lloyd, Ronald Meriweather, Donald Williams and Floyd Boykin of the vocal group Nostalgia all sang Doo Wop in the streets as kids, and St. Louis clubs and halls as young adults. In this show, they perform the music of some of the style's best knows groups: The Impressions, Drifters, Ink Spots, Coasters, as well as the popular and influential Moonglows, Spaniels, Dells, Flamingoes, Skyliners, Rays, Shep and the Limelights, and Penguins. In between the songs, they give an oral history of the form in different cities, with special attention to Doo Wop St. Louis Style in the 50's. FEATURED CABARET BENEFIT EVENT

Chicago-based global jazz ensemble Latinise will be releasing its new album "Outerlingual" on Thursday, October 28th at 8:00 pm with a masquerade-themed concert event at THE STAN MANSION (2408 North Kedzie, Chicago, IL). Doors open at 7pm, and the concert begins at 8:00 pm. Guests are requested to arrive in costume. The concert will feature selections from the new album "Outerlingual", including jazz arrangements of tango, cabaret, pop, opera, bossa nova and folk music from Latin America and Europe. Latinise is the brainchild of vocalist/violinist Andrea Else, who performs in Italian, French, Spanish and Portuguese. She frequently appears at venues such as the House of Blues, Taste of Chicago, Underground Wonder Bar, and has received numerous grants from the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Illinois Arts Council to pilot world music and multilingual choir workshops in Chicago Public Schools. Else will be joined by musicians specializing in world, jazz and experimental styles to create Latinise's trademark "global-fusion" sound, including James Cornolo, a guitarist/tres player who works with Angel D'Cuba and other Caribbean ensembles in Chicago; Danny Howard, a percussionist specializing in Afro-Brazilian styles; and jazz composer/ bassist Charlie Univerz. The dance floor will be open to all guests, and featured dancers will perform throughout the evening, including rising stars of the Tango Nuevo scene Rod Relucio and Jen Teters; emerging choreographers Aislinn Gagliardi and Megan Rhyme; and flamenco and samba performers, to be confirmed. Proceeds will be donated to the Merit School of Music, an organization founded in 1979 that provides high-quality music education to students in metropolitan Chicago. TWIST OF FATE is a whimsical, funny, moving and magical evening's exploration of Fortune, Fate, Love, Life, Death, The Afterlife and Reincarnation - all presented through storytelling and gorgeous music ranging from Broadway and Swing to contemporary and alternative Rock classics from the likes of Styx, kd lang and Olivia Newton-John. Multiple award-winners Miles Phillips (Director) and Mark Janas (Music Director) oversee an ambitious whirlwind of a show that unveils McMullan at the center of a six piece Gypsy Jazz Band and a dazzling assortment of Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves.
