Maria Ottavia & Marcus Simeone present musical tribute to Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein and Lorenz Hart at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sunday, March 13th, at 9:30 pm . The show is an affectionate and intimate Cabaret Concert, presenting some of the most beautiful music composed by three legendary composers: Rodgers & Hart and Rodgers & Hammerstein. Few songwriters' in history have risen to the epic heights of Richard Rodgers, Lorenz Hart and Oscar Hammerstein ll. Both Rodgers and Hammerstein ll achieved success independently. Rodgers collaborated for more than two decades with Lorenz Hart. Among their Broadway hits were: A Connecticut Yankee (1927), Babes in Arms (1937), The Boys from Syracuse (1938), Pal Joey (1940), and By Jupiter (1942), as well as successful film projects Richard Rodgers (1902–1979) and Oscar Hammerstein II (1895–1960) were an influential, innovative and successful American musical theater writing team They created a string of popular Broadway musicals in the 1940s and 1950s, initiating the "golden age" of musical theater. With Rodgers composing the music and Hammerstein writing the lyrics, five of their Broadway shows, Oklahoma!, Carousel, South Pacific, The King and I and The Sound of Music, were outstanding successes, as was the television broadcast of Cinderella. Among the many accolades their shows (and film versions) garnered were thirty-four Tony Awards, fifteen Academy Awards, a Pulitzer Prize, and two Grammy Awards. Collectively, it is an extraordinary legacy. Maria Ottavia has been a professional singer since she was a teen. Her credits are long and diverse. Her beautiful soprano has been praised by critics'. She is often singled out for her pitch perfect songs and eloquent phrasing. Marcus Simeone has risen to become one of today's most versatile singer/ songwriter/ recording artists on the club scene today. His eclectic shows have won many awards and critical praise since he burst on the cabaret scene. Multi-award winner Tracy Stark will be at the piano along with Marco Brehm on bass. The show is directed by Collette Black. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum. $15 cover for members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE.

NYC: SALON RETURNS - THEME FOR THE EVENING: "THE ART OF COMPROMISE"

SALON - that unique, multiple award winning, Weekly Open Mic Event, created and hosted by Mark Janas will return to ETCETERA ETCETERA(352 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-399-4141) on Sunday, March 13th, from 7:00-10:30 pm. (Sign-Up Begins at 6:15.) The optional theme for the evening is "The Art Of Compromise". Remember, any material, on or off theme, is always welcome at Salon. Guest Host/ Pianist will be will be MAC Award Winner Brett Kristofferson! Co-Host will be Jerry Phelps. The Salon Spotlight will feature Celia Berk! The Salon events are produced by Tanya Moberly. Salon is an ongoing open entertainment event in which singers, writers and musicians share their talent with each other and audience members. There are no reservations; seating is on a first come/ first served basis. All types of material, on or off theme are always welcome at Salon. They enthusiastically welcome instrumentalists, poets, playwrights, essayists, comics, illusionists and performance artists. Please limit your selections to three or four minutes in length (including introductions). Please also bring clear, complete charts for the accompanist to read. There is a $10 cash cover collected at the door and a $15 food/drink minimum (cash or credit) per person. NOTE: THERE IS NO SALON EVENT ON SUNDAY, MARCH 27th.
