NYC: THIS IS YOUR NIGHT! MR. RUBY RIMS

THIS IS YOUR NIGHT!, based on a classic premise that profiles a guest honoree who has contributed in some significant way to the NYC Entertainment Industry, returns to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Monday, September 28th at 7:00 pm. It can include, but not limited to: photographers, writers, bloggers, press, promoters, management, publicists, directors, musical directors and producers. This event is co-produced by Bernie Furshpan, Metropolitan Room & Sue Matsuki, Matsuki Productions. This month the club salutes Mr. Ruby Rims! Performers scheduled to take part include Helen Baldassare, Jeff Harnar, Lina Koutrakous, Karen Mason, John McMahon, Jay Rogers, Marta Sanders-Cooper, Rochelle Seldin, Rick Skye, Nancy Timpanaro-Hogan, with Ruby closing the show! Guest Speakers include Mignon Gillen & Micah Bucey. Musical Direction: John Mcmahon. The show is hosted by Bernie Furshpan, Managing Partner at the METROPOLITAN ROOM! A portion of the revenue will be given to a charity of Ruby's choice. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: MICHAEL GARIN - "A PUNCH IN THE MOUTH"

Michael Garin will bring his show "A Punch In The Mouth" to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Monday, September 28th at 9:30 pm. If you've spent any time in New York City after 9:00 p.m. in the last two decades, chances are you're already familiar with Michael Garin. You may have heard him playing piano and singing in such legendary boites as The Monkey Bar, The Rainbow Room, Cafe Feenjon, the Limelight, and Elaine's. With his stage partner, the singer/ comic Mardie Millit, Michael performed weekly at Elaine's for the last three years of the restaurant's life. Satirical, witty, acerbically intelligent, Michael has a number of specialty songs that he's known for. His repertoire is massive and eclectic: everything from Middle Eastern and Yiddish to standards to music from classic and obscure cult films to early rock and R&B. Michael's other credits include running the cabaret and writing original music for the Williamstown Theatre Festival. His two CDs, "The Song of the Alpha Male" and "Tulsa is Just a Slut Spelled Backwards," are available on iTunes. He co-wrote and co-starred in the hit Off-Broadway musical SONG OF SINGAPORE, for which he won both the Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk awards. There is a $22.50 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: BRILLIANT: SONGS OF THE BRILL BUILDING COMPOSERS

Ryan Leeds explores some familiar and lesser known tunes that made the Brill Building an iconic landmark in his show BRILLIANT at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE(61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) on Monday, September 28th at 7:00 pm. Leeds is both a theater critic and performer, whose baritone vocal experiences have taken him from church basements to Carnegie Hall. BRILLIANT will include hits from songwriters like Burt Bacharach, Neil Sedaka, Paul Anka, Jerry Leiber/ Mike Stoller, Carole King, and others. There is a $16 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: BRA ON THE LAMPSHADE AT THE BEECHMAN

Larry Darnell Penn Whitfield brings his latest show, 'Bra on the Lampshade' to THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE(407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Monday, September 28th at 7:00 pm. 'Bra on the Lampshade' is an acoustic night of comedic storytelling infused with a mix of toe tapping soulful songs and standards that span all genres. Come sit a spell, slip off those shoes, throw back a few and fling that old bra on the lampshade. It's time to party! There is a $20 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.

NYC: ARIANA DEBOSE & KATE ROCKWELL: BADASS BROADS

For one night only, Ariana DeBose (Hamilton, Motown, Pippin) and Kate Rockwell (Rock of Ages, Hair, Legally Blonde) will join forces at FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Monday, September 28th at 9:30 pm, to celebrate history's most fierce and fearless women in BADASS BROADS. The two starred in the original Atlanta, touring, and Broadway casts of "Bring It On: The Musical" and bring to the stage years of friendship and on-stage comradery. Celebrating powerhouse women in music and beyond - from Barbra to Beyonce, from Mariah to Michelle Obama - DeBose and Rockwell will be joined by music directors Kurt Crowley (Hamilton, Bring It On) and Benjamin Rauhala for an evening that promises some of the most epic duets the musical theater and pop music canon has to offer, and exciting new mashups and medleys. Double the diva, double the fun! Featuring: Jessica Vosk (Fiddler On The Roof, Finding Neverland), Dana Costello (Finding Neverland, Jekyll & Hyde) and Ariana Groover (Holler If You Hear Me, Bare). NYC: ANITA GILLETTE IN "SO, AS I WAS SAYING" AT BIRDLAND
CABARET EVENT IN A JAZZ CLUB!

The Broadway at Birdland concert series presents actress/ singer Anita Gillette, who will return to her musical home, BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Monday, September 28th at 7:00 pm with her new show, "So, As I Was Saying ... " Ms. Gillette premiered this new autobiographical concert to rave reviews at Birdland in March. In the show, she weaves her hilarious stories with song, covering her many years on Broadway and in films with stories about such people as Burt Lancaster ("It Never Was You"), Bill Murray ("Baby Elephant Walk"), Irving Berlin ("Song For ABelly Dancer"), and Tina Fey ("Blue Skies"). Anita Gillette has won both a MAC and Bistro Award for her show "After All," which premiered at Birdland three years ago, garnering rave reviews. She has appeared in fourteen Broadway shows and won a Tony nomination for Chapter Two. But she may be best known as Tina Fey's mother in "30 Rock," or Quincy's bride in "Quincy," or as Mona the Mistress in "Moonstruck," or Miss Mitzi in "Shall We Dance." She has also played everybody's mother on film: Bill Murray ("Larger Than Life"), Jack Black ("Bob Roberts"), Jennifer Anniston ("She's The One"), John Goodman ("Normal Ohio"), Mary Louise Parker("Boys On The Side"). She appeared on every game show ever created, "Pyramid" being her favorite. She was a foil for Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show at least 50 times! She had recurring roles on "CSI" and "Law & Order" and a was a regular on "Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice," "Almost Grown" (by David Chase), "Normal, Ohio," and "The War At Home." She recently guest starred on "Blue Bloods" and "Modern Family." There is a $30 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

Every Monday night at 9:30 pm, Broadway impresario Jim Caruso hosts "Cast Party", a combination open-mic, networking event and party at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) during which the biggest stars on Broadway relax on their night off by performing their favorite songs in an informal setting. Cast Party is a mix of music, impromptu performance and cocktail party revelry, where showbiz superstars, stunning jazz talents and cabaret glitterati hit the stage alongside up-and-comers to serve up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle. It's the ultimate spot to mix and mingle with talented show folk and their fans. There is a $20 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.
