WASHINGTON, DC: BOHEMIAN CAVERNS JAZZ ORCHESTRA 

The Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra, a 17 piece big band co-founded by baritone saxophonist Brad Linde, trumpeter Joe Herrera and club owner Omrao Brown, performs on Mondays at BOHEMIAN CAVERNS (2001 Eleventh Street N.W., Washington, DC - 202-299-0800) at 8:00 pm. The BCJO presents a variety of music from big band literature and features some of the District's best musicians on Monday nights at the historic Bohemian Caverns. Music from Ellington, Basie,Strayhorn, Thad Jones, Oliver Nelson, Maria Schneider and originals by band members will embrace and challenge the tradition of big band repertoire. There is a $10 cover.

WASHINGTON, DC: KENYA AT BLUES ALLEY

Singer/songwriter Kenya delivers smooth, soulful vocals with a jazz influence that creates a contemporary groove at BLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141 - http://www.bluesalley.com/ ) on Monday, December 8th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Kenya's music has charted in the Top 10 UK Soul Chart, is in current rotation on US radio stations including satellite SiriusXM, and has been considered for a Grammy nomination. Similarly, she is a Top 30 Soul Independent Artist in Chicago by ReverbNation and is the 2014 recipient of the Black Women in Jazz "Best Black Female 'Rising Star' Jazz Artist" award. Opening for such recording artists as Lalah Hathaway, Rachelle Ferrell, Raul Midon, and Algebra Blessett, Kenya delights diverse crowds with her melodic tone and engaging stage presence. A graduate of Howard University and former member of Howard Gospel Choir, Kenya is now based in Chicago. There is a $20 cover.
