CABARET TONIGHT IN NYC: STEVE TURRE & THE BONES OF ART AT DIZZY'S

CABARET TONIGHT IN NYC: STEVE TURRE & THE BONES OF ART AT DIZZY'S

Legendary trombone and conch shell master Steve Turre is bringing a brand new group to DIZZY'S CLUB AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER (33 West 60th Street, NYC - 212-258-9595) Thursday through Sunday, August 1st through 4th with shows at 7:30 & 9:30 pm. The shows are in anticipation of their upcoming release on High Note. He is joined by Robin Eubanks and Frank Lacy, Trombone; Xavier Davis, Piano; Kenny Davis, Bass; and Willie Jones III, Drums. The Bones of Art (a name chosen by fans on Facebook) should answer any questions about the players' credentials; the group features the last three trombonists in Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, all of whom have enjoyed monumental careers in jazz. The rhythm section is comprised of some of Dizzy's finest regulars, all group leaders as well - Xavier Davis, Kenny Davis, and Willie Jones III. Comprised of three trombones and a rhythm section, this is not a typical jazz sextet, but these proven musicians deserve curiosity and excitement in equal parts for this brave venture. There is a $35-$40-$45 cover (see website).
