PA: KAREN AKERS RETURNS WITH "ANYTHING GOES: PORTER & MORE!"
Bob Egan Entertainment presents the return of Karen Akers with Her New Show "Anything Goes' - Porter And More!" at BOB EGAN'S NEW HOPE - SUPPER CLUB AND CABARET (6426 Lower York Road, Route 202, New Hope, PA - 215-862-5225) on Saturday, July 9th at 8:30 pm. Akers is joined by long time musical director, Don Rebic, to present a new show that not only includes songs by Cole Porter, but favorites from Rogers and Hart, songs from Maury Yeston's "Nine" (for which Ms. Akers memorably appeared and received a Tony nomination), as well as French language classics for which Akers has received much acclaim. Karen Akers received a Tony nomination for her Broadway debut as Luisa Contini in the original Tommy Tune-directed production of "Nine." She returned to Broadway in another acclaimed Tune musical, "Grand Hotel". Her feature film credits include "The Purple Rose of Cairo," "Heartburn" and "Vibes," and she was seen in an episode of the hit TV series "Cheers." Akers, however, has received her greatest acclaim for her concert and cabaret work. Her solo recordings - including "Like It Was," "Presenting Karen Akers," "In a Very Unusual Way" and "If We Only Have Love" - are all available on CD.
