S.F.: RUSS LORENSON FEATURED AT C.O.O.L. SUMMER CABARET FESTIVAL

S.F.: RUSS LORENSON FEATURED AT SUMMER CABARET FESTIVAL

The San Francisco SOMETHING C.O.O.L. - THE SUMMER CABARET FESTIVAL, will run from Thursday, May 27th through Sunday, June 27th at THE EUREKA THEATER (215 Jackson Street, San Francisco, CA - TKKTS: 415-674-3863 -http://www.brownpapertickets.com/ ). Centerpiece of the celebration will be singer and recording artist Russ Lorenson, who will bring his award winning "Benedetto/Blessed: A Tribute to the Life and Music of Tony Bennett" to THE EUREKA on Thursdays through Sundays all five weeks of the festival. Performances are Thursdays & Fridays at 7:30 pm, Saturdays at 6:00 pm, and Sundays at 3:00 pm. The show had its opening at the Austin Cabaret Theater followed by sold-out runs at SF's Empire Plush Room, LA's Sterling's Upstairs, Milwaukee's Wilson Center for the Arts, and New York's famed Iridium Jazz Club. Tickets are $25.
Lorenson has established a reputation as one of the Bay Area's leading interpreters of jazz standards, with a sound and approach that place him at the intersection of Broadway, jazz, and pop - the very essence of the Great American Songbook. Nominated for a MAC Award by the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs, Russ Lorenson's passion for the stage started at age seven. He has appeared with theatre companies throughout the US and Europe and toured with the National Theatre for Children, appeared in concerts with Karen Mason, Andrea Marcovicci, Wesla Whitfield, and opened for the late legendary Eartha Kitt. His previous nightclub show, A Little Travelin' Music, played to sold-out audiences on both coasts. His debut CD of the same name features songs from the show and duets with Shawn Ryan and Klea Blackhurst. His CD, What I Want For Christmas, has received extensive radio airplay across the US.
In addition to Lorenson's weekend shows, Carly Ozard, voted "Best Cabaret Performer 2009", presents six diverse showcases and will co-host four evenings of open mics featuring talented performers from professional Bay area musical theaters and groups including 42nd Street Moon, Lamplighters, The SF Gay Men's Chorus and vocal artists from the local cabaret and performance oeuvre. Ozard will present vocal evenings Mondays thru Wednesdays for the month of June. Monday and Tuesday nights begin at 7:30 pm and the cover charge is $10.00. Wednesday open mics begin at 8:00 pm and are free, with tipping graciously accepted.
