NYC: RICHARD MALAVET - THE BILLY ECKSTINE PROJECT - ENCORE!

Critically acclaimed jazz stylist Richard Malavet returns to THE METRO-POLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Friday, June 10th at 7:00 pm with his must-see show: The Billy Eckstine Project: Songs in the Key of "B", for one night only. This is a one night only return performance that has Mr. Malavet revisit another singing idol from the past. Recently, he presented "Very Good Years: The Intimate Sinatra" to rave reviews. And what a band! Joining Richard will be multiple Grammy nominee John di Martino on piano and serving as musical director/arranger, Carlo De Rosa on bass, four time Grammy winner Vince Cherico on drums, Grammy and Latin Grammy winner Peter Brainin on tenor sax and Tim Ouimette on trumpet. Billy Eckstine was the legendary heartthrob (from the same era as Sinatra) who rose to fame with such hits and signature tunes as "Skylark," "I Apologize," "A Cottage For Sale" and "Prisoner of Love." For a while, his career surpassed Sinatra's in airplay and popularity. He made his mark on the Great American Songbook. He also discovered Sarah Vaughan as well as played a major role in bringing jazz icons Miles Davis and Charlie Parker to the public eye. And, he was the very first black romantic singer of his day. Interwoven throughout the show is a fascinating blend of anecdotes and music that showcases the musical mastery and stylish balladry of Eckstine. It shares gems of music history such as how he got his big break thanks to a legendary artist and the jazz innovators/ legends he discovered and mentored during his long and storied career. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

SATURDAY - JUNE 18th in NYC: ELAINE BRIER IN PUT YOUR FUNNY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS - AS ADVERTISED IN CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE

SATURDAY - JUNE 18th in NYC: ELAINE BRIER IN PUT YOUR FUNNY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS
- AS ADVERTISED IN CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE

Elaine Brier brings her new show 'Put Your Funny Where Your Mouth Is' to THE CUTTING ROOM (44 East 32nd Street, NYC - 212-691-1900) on Saturday, June 18th at 7:30 pm. Elaine Brier is a singer/ comic who has been entertaining people with inappropriate material for longer than she cares to remember. A native New Yorker from the Bronx, she attended the High School of Music and Art to study vocal music and did not dance on a table even once. She started her performing career in the 90's, singing in local New York City piano bars and practicing the fine art of shtick. Elaine has done many other things over the years such as voice overs, commercials, television, corporate gigs, birthing babies, etc., but performing for a live audience is still where her passion lies. She won the Backstage Bistro Award in 2003 for her one woman show, "Jirque du Soleil," and was given the MAC Award for "Best Piano Bar Performer" in 2015. She has been a staple at Don't Tell Mama Piano Bar for over 20 years and is very happy to have it as her second home. Elaine has three kids and hopes to write some songs that they are allowed to listen to some day. Put Your Funny Where Your Mouth Is is Elaine's first venture out of the piano bar since her children usurped her life. Through musical comedy, she reflects upon motherhood, divorce, returning to college after 25 years, religion, and shamelessly lowering her standards. This show contains all new material and she is very excited to inflict it upon the masses. There is a $25 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.

Texas based Carolyn Lee Jones will release her latest CD - In A Long White Room - on Friday, June 10th at THE KITCHEN CAFE (17370 Preston Rd #415 - 972-818-3400). Carolyn Lee Jones's influences and choices of genre are as broad as her vocal styling is rich. She makes standards sound new and the new sound standard. It is something of an audio calling card, the perfect representation of who she is and the musicians in her band. Her musical journey began as a child while growing up in Nebraska. During her formative years Carolyn sang in her school choirs and studied voice. Both of her parents were gifted musicians. After graduation, the lure of a bigger city drew her to Dallas, Texas where she pursued a successful 1st career in retailing for luxury stores.
