The popular and very talented Broadway star Brent Barrett makes his London cabaret debut with his show NIGHT SONGS at THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) on Tuesday through Saturday, January 14th through 18th at 8:00 pm. Musical Director is Christopher Denny. No stranger to the West End - he received an Olivier nomination for his performance in the London company of Kiss Me, Kate and has appeared here in Wonderful Town, Grand Hotel and On the Town - his show focuses on all that happens after sundown, featuring songs about the moon, dreams and everything nocturnal, by Billy Joel, Stephen Schwartz, Jimmy Webb, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Jule Styne, Alan J Lerner and Stephen Sondheim. Think everything from Music of the Night to Rhythm of the Night to You and the Night and Music - and you are on the right track. A highly personal show, he weaves in stories about his Broadway life, the great Broadway legends he has met along the way, and growing up in a small town in Kansas, in a house wedged between the highway and the railroad. Brent has starred on Broadway in Chicago, Annie Get Your Gun, Grand Hotel, West Side Story and Candide. He played a two-year stint in the title role of Phantom - The Las Vegas Spectacular and most recently was Captain Hook opposite Cathy Rigby's Peter Pan. Before that, he reprised his role as Billy Flynn in the Tony Award-winning hit Chicago - The Musical, for which he received a Los Angeles drama Critics Award.

Steve Tyrell returns in January for his sixth engagement in the THE ROYAL ROOM at THE COLONY HOTEL (155 Hammond Avenue, Palm Beach, FL - 561-659-8100) where he made his debut in January 2008. Performances are scheduled for Tuesdays through Saturdays, January 7th through 25th at 8:00 pm.The Grammy Award-winning vocalist is truly a renaissance man. In his four and a half decades in the music business, he has achieved great success as an artist, producer, songwriter, music supervisor, and performer. With his breakthrough performances in Father of the Bride and Father of the Bride II, Tyrell reinvented and re-popularized classic pop standards for a modern-day audience. His hits "The Way You Look Tonight," "The Simple Life," "Crush On You" and "The Sunny Side of The Street," have launched thousands of weddings and millions of romances. He's held top positions at Standards, Swing, and Big Band outlets with a devoted following at key Adult Contemporary Radio. Establishing themselves in the contemporary jazz world over the past few years, TIZER has spurred comparisons of a modern twist to the 70s and early 80s heyday of jazz fusion, when trailblazing ensembles like Return To Forever, Mahavishnu Orchestra and Weather Report set the aesthetic standard. Toronto-based and Winnipeg-born multiple award-winning bassist and composer Dave Young will perform atTHE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Thursday, Friday & Saturday, January 16th, 17th & 18th at 9:00 pm. He is joined by Gary Williamson - piano, Terry Clarke - drums, Kevin Turcotte - trumpet and Perry White - saxophone. Young is, without a doubt, one of Canada's most valuable and beloved musical exports. Whether he's performing as part of a classical symphony, or as an integral member of an iconic jazz trio (with the likes of the late Oscar Peterson), or leading any of his dynamic ensembles, Dave remains a total musician, with artistic soul in abundance. He first began studying the guitar and violin at age ten, but a turn of events at his first gig (a University dance band) compelled him to pick up the bass. Equally comfortable in the worlds of orchestral classical music and jazz, Dave is a multiple threat. As a classical musician, he has been a member of The Edmonton Symphony, The Winnipeg Symphony and The Hamilton Philharmonic. As a jazz artist, he is a chameleon-like bassist, who often shines brightest in collaborative efforts with other musicians. Because of his technical skill, few bassists (jazz or otherwise) are able to dig in, swing hard and still render a lyrical arco solo as Dave can.

Christian stands tall among a handful of talented young jazz artists who are expanding their artistic vision beyond the strict confines of the genre's tradition. Throughout his career, Scott has been an intrepid explorer, from his Grammy nominated debut Rewind That to his genre stretching last album Yesterday You Said Tomorrow. Scott ups the ante on his compelling new double album, Christian aTunde Adjuah, an inspired and provocative two-CD, 23-track collection that spans a range of beyond-jazz influences as he continues to make strides into uncharted jazz territory. With Scott's trumpet at the heart of most of the tunes, the album features reflective ballads, light and dreamy soundscapes, guitar-edged and rock-inflected cookers, trumpet ecstasies as well as clarion calls and anguished wails. Following a triumphant 2013 run, Sam Harris returns to 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) for four shows only, this time celebrating the release of his brand new book, HAM: Slices of a Life (Gallery Books/Simon & Schuster). CABARET TONIGHT IN NYC: JENNY MESRIE - TUNES UP YOUR MIND

Jenny Mesrie will perform at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Thursday, January 16th at 9:30 pm. Jenny is a woman of many colors with passions in both the musical and healing arts. Born in the diverse world of Brooklyn, NY, music and singing have always been an integral part of Jenny's life, beginning in the days when she discovered this love in front of the imaginary audience beyond her bedroom mirror. Jenny is a classically trained pianist and began vocal training at 14 years old. As a high school youth, she performed in local community centers as well as Avery Fischer and Alice Tully Halls at Lincoln Center as part of a Hazamir choir. Simultaneously, Jenny was developing a love for the study of the human body and mind through method acting, movement work, nutrition and medicine. She studied in intensive programs at Circle in the Square Theater School and Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute and received a BS at Columbia University in Neuroscience and Behavior. She sang in an a cappella group Nonsequitur and performed in college campuses around the country. Nonsequitur also graced the stage in an off-Broadway production of Toxic Audio. In 2003, Jenny won best soloist in the Quarterfinals for the International Championship of College A cappella. She received a medical degree in 2012 and is currently training to be a psychiatrist. While witnessing the healer in her grow, she discovered the blues scene and began singing at blues jams around the city. She performed at venues like the Red Lion, VIllage Underground, 78 Below, Kenny's Castaways, and Local 269. This brings us to her exciting debut at the Metropolitan Room! Making her first appearance at FEINSTEIN'S AT THE NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 866-663-1063), Karen McNight will present her all-new show, 'The First 30 Years' with performances on Thursday & Friday, January 16th & 17th at 8:00 pm. The show is an introspective retrospect from Moose Hall to Carnegie Hall (and all the gin joints on the way). Sharing her quixotic experiences from standing on a stage made from stacked beer cases in San Francisco's Castro District to starring on Broadway in Starmites and her indelible appearances in the world's bistros, McNight will perform songs by Irving Berlin, Billy Joel, Randy Newman, Willy Nelson and many new composers with her trademark comedy in-between. Joan Edgar will serve as Musical Director. The California native is a favorite with cabaret and concert audiences and is known for her sardonic comedic style, wry comments on the ways of the world and an eclectic mix of song selections. To many, her off-the-cuff ad libs and audience participation may be the most revered elements of any McNight show. The First 30 Years is no exception! McNight made her Broadway debut in 1989 in Starmites creating the role of Diva, for which she received a Tony Award nomination for Best Leading Actress in a Musical, and was the recipient of the coveted Theatre World Award for Outstanding Broadway Debut, which was presented to her by Carol Channing. In San Francisco, McNight was voted Best Actress by the San Francisco Bay Area Critics' Circle for her performance as Dolly Levi in Hello Dolly. She has received five Cable Car Awards for San Francisco's Cabaret Entertainer of the Year, New York's MAC Award for Outstanding Female Vocalist and the New York Critics' Nightlife Award for Best Musical Comedy Cabaret Show for Ladies Compose Yourselves. Of her many accomplishments and performance awards, McNight is most proud of the money she has raised on behalf of AIDS related charities. Raven O will join Musical Director Ben Allison for his first show of the New Year "Raven O, Modern Standards". When Raven O hits the stage, the crowd can expect the trademark raw and powerful show the song stylist is known for. But this time there's a new twist. It's the first time in 35 years that Raven O is very clear what he wants to do with the rest of his life. His decision came about as a result of a life changing moment in Provincetown, MA last summer. Raven O says: "I was invited to see the legendary Marilyn Maye perform. She's in her 80's and she blew the house down. Right there I decided that's my path. That's the goal. To be in my 80's, with the energy of a 20 year old and have everyone walk out saying 'WTF that was amazing!' As soon as I got home from P-Town I booked a gig at Joe's Pub with my Musical Director Ben Allison. We packed the place and the new journey began." There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

TOMORROW NIGHT IN NYC: KEN SLAVIN RETURNS TO METROPOLITAN ROOM WITH NEW SHOW

Crooner Ken Slavin returns to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Friday, January 17th at 7:00 pm with his new show "A Swingin; Evening" after making his triumphant New York debut on the same stage on Halloween Night, 2013. He'll have plenty of copies of his new CD to share: "Ken Slavin LIVE at The Metropolitan Room," recorded on that memorable evening. Long before the current crop of young interpreters of classic jazz and the Great American Songbook embarked on their careers, Ken was singing the classics while working the microphone and building a fan base deep in the heart of Texas - in the culturally diverse and vibrant city of San Antonio, which is now the seventh largest metro area in the country. He performs regularly in San Antonio and in Austin - the musical capital of the Lone Star State. He also has sung as far north as Alaska and as far south as Mexico City! A late bloomer who had his first professional gig just before his 30th birthday, he has racked up numerous awards and glowing reviews across the country and overseas. His CDs are programmed on many traditional and internet radio stations in the USA and Europe. His most recent studio recording, "I'll Take Romance," has been spotlighted on programs from Alaska to New York and as far away as the United Kingdom, Italy, Poland, New Zealand, Portugal, France and Mexico.
