Jennylind Parris' New York City acclaimed solo debut 'A Woman of Character: A Tribute To The Incomparable Carol Burnett' has been extended with additional dates: Friday, December 6th at 7:00 pm and Saturday, December 21st at 4:00 pm at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440). "A Woman of Character" will take audiences on a tour of Carol Burnett's illustrious career from "Once Upon A Mattress", and "Annie", to eleven years worth of musical numbers crossing all genres on the Carol Burnett Show, as well as variety specials, television appearances, movies, and even from her nightclub acts. The show is directed by multi-award winning director Gretchen Reinhagen and musically directed by multi-award winning musical director Tracy Stark. Proceeds from the December 21st show will go to benefit the Nomi Network (http://www.NomiNetwork.org ), an organization creating jobs for women rescued out of sex trafficking. Jennylind Parris is a versatile singer, and comedic actress having performed across the country in a multitude of musicals. She starred in the award winning Off-Off Broadway production of "Where's Charley?". There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

Sharing the stage will be guest Musical Director Ian Herman. The Rules of the Road is the latest emotionally empowering and highly-charged show from this influential and beloved cabaret artist who never disappoints. Her shows are filled with memorable anecdotes from life and a brilliant performing career as well as totally unforgettable song choices that have helped make her the local legend she remains today. Mystical yet fiery, passionately romantic yet supremely cool - you hear those first few notes from that instantly recognizable tenor, and know you're in the unique musical world of Gato Barbieri. His enduring career has covered virtually the entire jazz landscape, from free jazz with trumpeter Don Cherry and avant-garde in the mid-'60s, to film scoring and his ultimate embrace of Latin music throughout the '70s and '80s. After many years of limited musical activity due to the passing of his first wife Michelle (also his closest musical confidant and manager) and his own triple bypass surgery six weeks later, Barbieri returned stronger than ever with the 1997 Columbia offering Que Pasa, the fourth-highest-selling contemporary jazz album of that year. Following her popular debut in 2012, Karen Oberlin returns toTHE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) Tuesday through Saturday, November 26th through 30th at 8:00 pm with a new show, OVER THE RAINBOW: The Songs of Harold Arlen and Yip Harburg. Oberlin has performed the songs of Arlen and Harburg all over the US and in Paris, having a deep love and affinity for both of these songwriters. The convergence of two of the greatest songwriters of all time was realized in 1939, with the release of the film The Wizard of Oz. The songs from the film, written by these titans of the Great American Songbook, would change the musical world forever, the best known among these evergreens being placed on many lists as "the greatest song of the twentieth century". Aside from Over the Rainbow and other songs from that film, they created numerous Broadway shows together and wrote many popular songs and Hollywood hits such as Last Night When We Were Young, If I Only Had A Heart/Brain, Happiness Is Just A Thing Called Joe, Down With Love and, of course, Groucho Marx's Lydia the Tattooed Lady, among many other masterpieces. In her show, Oberlin explores some of these musical geniuses' songs before they had joined forces and what helped make the magic between them. Their songs burst with humour, beauty and intelligence, not to mention the songwriters' devotion to improving the human condition. Their body of work is quite unlike any before or since, and Oberlin brings their best moments to radiant life. Oberlin, who appeared in an opera at the age of six and hasn't stopped singing since, performed in the hit off-Broadway show Our Sinatra over 100 times. She has many theatrical, film and television credits, including performing in the first staged version of the now-legendary Broadway show RENT and playing a recurring nurse on the American soap opera All My Children. Oberlin has headlined at all the New York premier cabaret and jazz rooms and has toured worldwide. This long-running series was created by Edmund Anderson and is now produced by Ronny Whyte. The show on Wednesday, November 27th features Dick Hyman. Richard "Dick" Hyman is an American jazz pianist/ keyboardist and composer, best known for his versatility with jazz piano styles. Over a 50-year career, he has functioned as a pianist, organist, arranger, music director, and, increasingly, as a composer. His versatility in all of these areas has resulted in well over 100 albums recorded under his own name and many more in support of other artists. Performances are at 1:00 pm, $10 donation.

Jazz legend Annie Ross continues her unprecedented, record-breaking, multi-year run at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440), every Tuesday night at 9:30 pm. Ms. Ross has been an abundant contributor to the art of jazz for over 50 years. Born in the UK, she has been a permanent resident of the USA for many years and a US citizen since 2001. Annie Ross is one of the pioneers of vocalese and the composer of "Twisted", one of the most well known examples of that art, as well as "Farmers Market", "Jackie" and many others. A founding member of Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, considered the greatest jazz vocal ensemble of all time, her influence is present in all subsequent practitioners of vocalese. "Twisted" has been recorded by a host of vocalists, including some not normally associated with jazz, including Joni Mitchell and Bette Midler. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

Every Monday night at 9:30 pm, Broadway impresario Jim Caruso hosts "Cast Party", a combination open-mic, networking event and party atBIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) during which the biggest stars on Broadway relax on their night off by performing their favorite songs in an informal setting. Cast Party is a mix of music, impromptu performance and cocktail party revelry, where showbiz superstars, stunning jazz talents and cabaret glitterati hit the stage alongside up-and-comers to serve up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle. It's the ultimate spot to mix and mingle with talented show folk and their fans. There is a $20 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

CABARET TONIGHT IN NYC: JONATHAN BRIELLE AND FRIENDS IN I SAW BROADWAY

The Broadway at Birdland concert series will present Jonathan Brielle's I Saw Broadway on Monday, November 25th at 7:00 pm atBIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080). Composer Jonathan Brielle's I Saw Broadway features songs and stars from three of his new musicals, including Himself and Nora, which, following a critically acclaimed run at The American Theatre Group's Hamilton Stage, is rounding the corner for Broadway; 40 Naked Women, a Monkey & Me, recently seen in a staged reading, and Nightmare Alley a hit at this summer's New York Musical Theater Festival. Songs will be performed by a group of Broadway's brightest stars including Matt Bogart, Deborah Cox, Veanne Cox, Rose Hemingway and Ken Pyrmus, solidly backed by Brielle and his New York hard swinging extraordinary group of musicians who have among them scores of Broadway show credits and hit records. The band includes Musical Director Jeff Klitz on piano, Paul Pizzutti on drums, Ira Siegel on guitar, Jim Hynes on trumpet, Mike Davis on trombone, Dan Willis on reeds and Andy Snitzer on saxophone. There is a $25 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

Julie Klausner, host of HOW WAS YOUR WEEK, Vulture.com correspondent, and author of I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR BAND, performs at JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE(425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Friday through Tuesday, November 22nd through 26th at 7:30 pm. She sings some goddamn songs in her first-ever cabaret show. Don't expect anything besides complete and utter magic on this very special evening of music and comedic banter. Featuring special guests and Musical Director Jon Spurney. Julie Klausner is a comedy writer/performer, podcaster, and author. Currently, Julie works as "Media Ambassador" for Vulture.com, for which she writes frequently, makes weekly videos for the site, and goes on TV on behalf of Vulture to discuss pop culture topics. She wrote a memoir called "I Don't Care About Your Band" and her new book, a YA Novel called "Art Girls Are Easy," comes out May 7 of this year. There is a $20-$25 cover.
