SF: FIRST EVER MONTREUX BAND REUNION CONCERT
Playing together for the first time in 20 years, the Montreux Band performs atYOSHI'S (510 Embarcadero West, Jack London Square, Oakland, CA - 510-238-9200) on Saturday, January 14th with sets at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. The band revisits the music that helped define Northern California in the 1980s. Darol Anger (violin), Barbara Higbie (piano), Mike Marshall (mandolin/guitar) and Michael Manring (fretless bass) were in their twenties when they created a new genre of music that rocketed from their Live at Montreux recording into heavy rotation on VH1, 10 recordings for Windham Hill Records, and 12 years of international touring. They are virtuoso instrumentalists and accomplished composers who have played with everyone from David Grisman and Stephan Grappelli to Santana and Bonnie Raitt. They have all gone on to successful solo careers. NVOH Artistic Director Peter Williams helped reunite the band for this historic concert. There is a $25 cover.

Vocalist Bobbe Norris and pianist / arranger Larry Dunlap have performed together throughout the US, Europe and Japan since the 1980s. Larry's accompanying and arrangements are innovative and swinging, while remaining true to the song. Joel's new show, Singing Bing, is based on songs introduced and covered by legendary singer and performer, Bing Crosby. Bing's crooning technique had a great impact on the music industry for most of the 20th Century, and his style will continue to influence singers and songwriters for centuries to come. Cabaret favorites Tommy Femia and Rick Skye have teamed up for another evening of "Judy and Liza Together Again" at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Saturdays, January 14th & 28th at 8:30 pm. They are joined by Ricky Ritzel (as Mort) at the piano. These MAC Award winning performers (Best Impersonation) will pull out all the stops, singing classic solo's, parodies, duets and just plain whooping and hollering by the greatest mother/ daughter team in show biz history. Tommy Femia is a 7 time winner of the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC) Award for his brilliant portrayal of Judy Garland in "Judy Garland LIVE!", now in it's 20th season at Don't Tell Mama. He has also starred in "Whoop-de-doo", "I Will Come Back" and, most recently, "Norma Does Men". Rick Skye is best known for writing a string of outrageous comic revues including "The Flip Side of Neil Sedaka", "MaCabaret - a tabloid fable", "The War of the Mama Roses", "It's Madame with an E" and the International hit - "A Slice O' Minnelli" for which has enjoyed successful season's in Covent Garden, at the Apollo Theatre in London's West End and at the Dublin Theatre Festival where he received the Award for "Best Achievement in Performance". Oleg is one of the few Russian performers who proudly promotes American music on Russian Radio, TV and on stage. His TV shows have included many legendary singers such as B.B. Lapis Luna brings you the captivating jazz of the 1930s, '40s, and '50s with a classical glittering sound. Standards, enchanting ballads, obscure swing-era gems, and vintage melodies the way they were meant to be heard: vibrant, funny, romantic, and cool. NYC: MARILYN MAYE REPRISES HER NEW YEAR'S EVE SHOW IN JANUARY
Marilyn Maye plans to keep the New Year's Eve party going at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) with three additional by-request shows, Wednesday through Friday, January 4th through 6th at 7:00 pm. "Marilyn By Request," is the show in which Maye and her Billy Stritch-led band will create a new show based on audience requests. (Audience members will be asked for song suggestions when making their reservations.) Since she returned to New York in October 2006 after a 15-year absence, Maye has introduced an entirely new generation to a fun-loving performance style that once was the hallmark of large rooms and nightclubs across the country. Kat Gang brings her unique vocal style to theROSE ROOM OF THE PLAZA HOTEL(Fifth Avenue at Central Park South, NYC - 212-759-3000) every Wednesday at 9:00 pm, for an open-ended engagement. She will be singing Traditional Jazz Standards, Cole Porter, Gershwin and others from the Great American Songbook. Kat has a soul steeped in jazz. Born in Boston she began her music theory training as a teenager at Berklee and then fell in love with the energy of New York City and went on to gain her BFA from NYU. After that she continued studying music at the Royal Academy in London. Kat lived and worked singing jazz all over England for seven years. She has performed twice at the GRAMMY Awards with the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, has acted in various feature-length independent films, and currently is back in New York performing frequently and exploring the depth of jazz fusion and improvisation with her versatile, extraordinary ear and voice. The Rose Room has a policy of no cover or minimum for its music, fabulous cocktails, wine and champagne.
