Steven has won the first Johnny Mercer Foundation Emerging American Songwriter Award, two Jonathan Larson Performing Arts Foundation Grants for his work in the theatre (he is the first and only recipient of two such awards), a New American Works Grant from the NEA, two Bistro Awards and three MAC Awards. For his work for the theater, he and his principal collaborator, Robert L. Freedman, won both the Kleban Award for Lyric Writing, and the Fred Ebb Songwriting Award and in the same year. FEATURED CABARET BENEFIT EVENT

Singer Kevin Dozier will present his acclaimed cabaret show "TAKE ME TO THE WORLD" to THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATER(407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Tuesday, October 19th and at 7:00 pm. This will be the final show of the series and there will be NO COVER charge. Instead, Kevin will donate $20 to the American Cancer Society’s HOPE LODGE NYC for each person who attends that night. Kevin, who is a Divisional Vice President at COACH/Reed Krakoff, has asked COACH to participate in the benefit evening as part of their "Coach Matching Gift Program". COACH will not only match but double Kevin’s contribution for the first 45 people, thus raising $60 per attendee for HOPE LODGE that night. The evening, directed by Lennie Watts, includes songs by Maltby and Shire, Jones and Schmidt, Irving Berlin, Jerry Herman, Lerner and Loewe, Stephen Sondheim, Noel Coward, Ervin Drake and others. Kevin debuted "Take Me to the World" at FEINSTEIN'S earlier this year and returns in this extended engagement at the popular theatre-district restaurant and cabaret theatre named for Broadway's Laurie Beechman. Kevin will be joined by Musical Director Alex Rybeck at the piano.Kevin made his critically acclaimed NYC cabaret debut at DON'T TELL MAMA in June, 2008, followed by two successful runs at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (October 2008 and 2009) and FEINSTEIN'S in 2010. He was a 2009 MAC Award nominee for "Best Male Debut Performance" and was named "Male Cabaret Performer of the Year" in the San Francisco Cabaret Competition. There will be another performance of "Bewitched, The Songs of Rodgers and Hart" at THE TRIAD (158 West 72nd Street, NYC - 212-362-2590) by The Philhallmonic Society on Friday, October 22nd at 9:00 pm. This special event concert is a benefit for this unique organization. Bewitched is directed and arranged by international Broadway composer, conductor and producer Phil Hall, and is staged by Broadway dancer and choreographer Mark Santoro. Under the leadership of Phil Hall, The Philhallmonic Society is a bevy of beautiful Broadway, cabaret and classical singers who contribute their talents to support humanitarian causes. They sing their hearts out to send a message which is all too often forgotten: it is never too late to follow your passion, and, by doing so, find fulfillment and help others. After a very successful run with his, "Mad About The Boy" show at DON'T TELL MAMA & THE TRIAD, John Patrick Hart will bring his new show "NOEL COWARD IN LAST VEGAS" to THE TRIAD (158 West 72nd Street, NYC - 212-362-2590) for one night only, on Thursday, October 14th at 9:15 pm. Directed by Jay Rogers, the show also features musical direction by Clare Cooper. Noel's legendary appearance in Las Vegas gave new meaning and impetus to the special world of cabaret. His show was the talk of Hollywood and Broadway and got worldwide press -- literally putting Las Vegas on a whole show business map. John re-creates the heart of Noel's super Las Vegas Show. He sings Coward's most famous songs, sprinkled with Noel's sophisticated patter. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
